I really love this idea, that sometimes certainty in an outcome, even a negative one, starts overshadowing the substance of the outcome - and it shouldn't.

It's good that this article talks about how reductive the concept of luxury beliefs can be, because it seriously is. It's ridiculous to consider white privilege a luxury belief, of course, but it's also wrong to consider antipathy to monogamous marriage a luxury belief. There are so many consequences of marriage's history as a means of controlling women and girls that screw life up, particularly for those who also have other intersecting oppresions to reckon with. Why on earth would one consider critiquing monogamous marriage to be a luxury?
