“He’s a completely tortured soul, like any vampire. I don’t think he’ll ever be truly happy – he’s always just survived. It’s the struggle you see, which I always like… It’s something he can’t forget about and his own actions coincide with the safety of other people who aren’t immortal who he feels responsible for, and he’s always carrying that burden around with him. He’s almost like the mother figure rather than the father figure, he provides that security, the comfort blanket.
