Please tell me you remember my identity; I am resisting here with my stones. The children will grow tomorrow, and we will drive away the strange dog. Long live my country despite their influence and armies. My feet are rooted in the soil, and I have not left my land. Should I sell my homeland to the wolves and buy my exile with it? I endured hunger for a whole year. Long months passed during which I only tasted canned goods and some bread. I slept on the streets, in alleys, in hospitals, and I lost my home, my only source of income, my car, and everything I owned. However, I am ready to welcome a new year in the same condition. We search in our initiatives for a sparkle that will restore what we have lost, for a bridge that will connect us to joy, but we find ourselves standing in front of closed doors, wondering: Will we be able to build again? Or will this crazy present and unknown future steal from us all that remains of our strength? How difficult it is to be imprisoned between a past that has passed, a present that is tightening around you, and a future that hides within its folds a darkness in which we do not see even a glimmer of hope.
