if only i could walk all night
i would walk back to you; through these fresh suburbs
(these fresh suburbs i can’t yet claim as my own)
all kissing
and being kissedÂ
by the morning dew & the kindness of your friends who stand like streetlamps.
i’d run
one dayÂ
only from things like desire & mornings & self-fulfilling prophecies.
[just waitingÂ
for you to breath into my lungsÂ
verity; the kind you found amidst those yawningÂ
mountains] for now,
i’ll stumble underneath strobe lights and pray that it’s me peeling back this sequin dress at the end of the night.
brought a half sex sunset into my bed the other day -
& i ended up breathing in a chill far colder than i had ever experienced
(a displacement of someone’s voyeur fantasy; as i thought partially of you)
on holding a stranger’s hand
take whatever’s clutched in your palm,
that thing that reeks of a false love; a true tenderness
& shove it underneath your pillowÂ
& sheets freshly changed
& listen to the beat of a heart of someone you don’t know as you drift into sleep
& wait for dawn to draw its bow
& lodge reason back into your chest
i will head off into the desert &
i will throw my heart into the void
just to ensure that no one
catches it

we had everythingÂ
except fate
on our sides
strands of november filling your mouth like a missing tongue
early december tiding into your veins; you’re drunk and you think you’ve fallen
in love with the strange memory of
a stranger’s warmth;
a stranger’s tenderness
the tears cried by those leaving and being left -
isn’t where the sea came from?
recollection #1
A military jacket as an art piece all hung up and framed fancy, pinned to its green skin pins bearing names of damn, I can't remember if it was the names of the people the artists loved or people lost out at sea
favourite poisons
-the warmth you'd nearly forgotten -the chill freely embraced -the tenderness you won't let go

i continue to float
in a sea of melancholy,
holding onto nothing
but the most precious of my goldfish
memories, drifting in dark space,
awaiting some new dawn
Singapore: A love story
What would be easy for me to say: the golden half light spilling through the room was so beautiful; the way we had spun cocoons around each other with black ink and cigarette smoke; the fingerprints we left on the crime scene of passing time.
What i could also mean: but that room has been occupied by a stranger for a year already, and how I never found the ring I lost there even after the movers came with their boxes and I guess I lost lots of things I was fond of, but that ring fit my index finger the best; that I realised no space was sacred anyone when the lush field off Duchess Road was going to become the excess of luxury apartments; that I am outgrowing the sound of my own voice; that I used to wonder how peaceful it would be here when the construction stopped, until I realised the city would be building all the way till its final breath; and that so would I.
