Well, the new Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters series aired and it was entertainingly fun, if nothing especially ground breaking. The heroes were dynamic, the fight scenes using the various applications of stretching powers were well thought out, and there was some interesting plotting going on.
The sixth episode “The Gangs of Old Town” features a local mob boss gaining superpowers and consolidating control, and we get to see a number of these gangs, who in true superhero story style all have their own themed “looks”
The Stickshifts, with a cut price Mad Max look
Mr Silver’s men, going for the “dapper” look
The Daggers… who all seem to carry katanas, so may not have got their own memo
Now if there’s one thing the series is sort of lacking it’s proper female representation. The teenage heroes are all male, and though there are a couple of female students, it all a bit bro-ish.
So it was nice that after we’d seen the Daggers and the others, another limo pulls up and this lady steps out…
Followed by the rest of her gang…
Sadly, only one of them is named, Madame Tousant, the leader, but her gang is frankly pretty awesome. When one of the Daggers insults her, the gang is NOT about to let that slide and prep for battle…
So we have throwing blades, daggers, an epee, spiked knuckle dusters and a sharpened yo-yo like weapon.
To be honest, forget the Flex Fighters, I really want the spinoff series about this gang and how they rose to power!
