“National teacher shortage” is a fun way of saying that the USA has made a passion driven job so ungodly inhospitable that even people who “just care about teaching, not the money” don’t even care about teaching anymore.

you mean i could make less at school than at mcdonalds while working 60+ hours a werk and being expected to take a bullet any minute and contracting every disease ever and still not be able to cover my bills june-september while parents and politicians blame me for why their kids are gay

I make jackshit as a preschool teacher. YUUUUUUP!

Thinking about a beach day with josh again. It’s a really hot day and I know he would make a whole thing of it. The second it hits 85 degrees he says the water is calling to him. He’d wake you up early on your day off just to get a head start, throwing your bathing suit at you before you’re even out of bed. By the time you’re dressed, he’s already packed your bags with sunscreen, towels, and a picnic lunch and made iced coffees for the road. You make him wear his sandals because he always complains about the hot sand when he leaves them behind. You finally get in the car, and he’s so excited he’s got the windows rolled down, the music blasting. At the beach, he stakes out the best spot on the shore to set up your towels. He never bothers with chairs or umbrellas because he likes the feeling of the sun on his face while he lies on the sand. Once you’re done taking turns lathering sunscreen on each other, you race to the water. He dives under right away, leaving you to slowly get used to the chill. He swims back to you, his skin glowing and eyes shining with joy. He sees that you’re still only up to your waste and gives you a little teasing splash. You squeal and splash him back, causing him to cackle and as an apology, wrap you in a big wet chilly hug, placing kisses all over your face. But you get your revenge by returning his hug and dunking the both of you under the water. After ages of swimming and playing, you collapse on your towels ready to bake in the heat for a while. You spend the whole day relaxing, swimming, and snacking. Josh even lets you bury him in the sand (only because he knows you’ll spend hours painstakingly picking the sand out of his hair later). By the time you get home, red faced and with your hair curled up from air-drying, you are so exhausted from the long day that you shower together silently, gently washing each other of the sand and grime, and then collapse in bed, happy and satisfied.
