Of course she cared. She liked Rey, thought of her as family. Plus, she was pretty sure Benny was developing a little crush which she was half debating bringing up as it would change the subject. Luckily, she had enough sense to realize this was not the time.

Just like she didn’t mention that CPS probably would have knocked and so given Breha and Poe plenty of time to dress and explain that, sorry, Chewie wasn’t home right now but that Rey was staying with her parents for the weekend and did they want their number. So really, it would have been fine.

But again. Not the time.

Instead, she just got in the car, sulking in the front seat as she was driven home. A home they arrived at about the same time as Breha’s grandmother. Oh great. Seems the whole family was going to be witness to her shame.

Fan-fucking-tastic.

Padme was aiming to have a semi-quiet afternoon watering Leia’s plants and maybe getting to hang out with her grandkids but when she noticed Chewie’s fury as he parked she could sense those plans went completely out of the window. 

She stopped him dead on his tracks before walking into the house and told them they were out getting lunch for everyone and that he needed to calm the hell down if he intended to be heard. Once Chewie took a few deep breaths he explained exactly how he had found Breha and why he was so pissed. 

“Chew, CPS wouldn’t have broken into your home but I understand the sentiment,” she quickly backtracked. “Why don’t you go home and find Rey and pass on this family lunch and I take it from here?”

Chewie wanted blood--or so he inspired but Padme crossed her arms over her chest, “I can’t believe that. I can’t believe you want her exposed to her father nor want Han to get his gun and go beat the shit out of Poe because you know that’s what’s gonna happen. Go home to your girl,” she offered patting Chewie’s back and snatched Breha by the arm before she could skip away under some thing or other. 

             he chuckled lightly. “ that is all too true. i will be cautious, grandmother. for you. ” normally jacen wouldn’t think anything of such a promise but he was determined not to worry padme’. 

            the notion of leaving with his grandmother was not lost on the boy. in fact, it was something that he longed for. he hated it here, everything was primitive and grueling. and while he tried to make the best of it, the nagging voice inside his head had him believing otherwise; believing that he was better then both this place and his uncle’s foolish teachings.

            he seemed lost in his thoughts for a moment before responding. “ yes. i’d like to show you my pages. ” he said, taking his grandmother’s hand and leading her through out the halls. he laughed a bit, “ politics? me? ” he asked, “ i don’t know, grandmother. i may have polished my writing and speech. but my real skills still lie in combat. ”

          jacen was her pride and joy, and as most grandparents she doted on him. maybe not with baked good or knitted scarves but with all the love and support she could give him. and she wanted jacen with her, not here with luke. “good boy,” she joked pressing a loud kiss to the top of his head, knowing she was on borrowed time; soon enough he’ll get to that age where public displays of affection from an adult member of the family were rejected.

Ray only asked for books and water while he was in the cell, being the model inmate for her. When she came down, he looked at her.

“My end game? I told you, save the universe.” He sat up and looked her in the eye. “The sith recruit clones and other men and women, training them to kill millions. When I’m alive, seven whole planets have been destroyed. As of right this second, you’re the only way to save this place, and it’s to make sure your future boyfriend from Tatooine doesn’t go totally psycho.”

It was hard for Padme to believe in this boy. So far she was torn between thinking he had planned the bank robbery as a long con and thinking he needed medical attention. At the mention of clones she couldn’t help but frown, “there is no such a thing as a clone army. And there’s only one Sith out there.”

But the idea of planets getting destroyed did not sit well with her--something of all the nonsense he was saying was making her feel uncomfortable because it felt too truthful. He believed in what he was saying, which could only mean he was insan--

     Galen stared at the senator, an eclipsing personality with a beautiful and terrifying face. Older and bashful, she certainly was a handful as described, but she didn’t like to be stern in either direction anyway. Posing here to blend in and keep his face out of sight he rose up enough so as to look her in the eye. Starkiller’ s face was one used in the propaganda fight as a symbol of the Rebellion, “ You represent far too many systems to die for nothing Senator.” 

Rey being tall for a woman, or at least tall to those she knew, hadn’t really thought about height with other. He also was older than her…. maybe that was a good thing. Someone more mature might be a good change of pace. And hearing he had what sounded to be a steady job, one that wasn’t shady either…. she was realizing just how bad her love life really had been if that was the criteria.

Rey looked at the picture pausing a moment. He was handsome, dark hair and deep eyes. Rey stopped moving entirely for a bit before glancing up at Padme.

“You think he’d really want to go on a date with me?” She suddenly felt like she was out of her league here, he sounded great which had her worried that she wasn’t what he’d picture as a date.

Padme snort-laughed at her friend and then rolled her eyes, setting her phone down so that Rey could still see Ben’s picture if she wanted to. “Of course he would. You’re adorable, you’re funny, you’re hot as hell. He’d be stupid not to,” she reinforced with a huff before finishing up her coffee and asking for a refill. “Seriously Rey, we need to work on your self-esteem.”
