23 - what's the coolest place you've visited?

3 - Leon, France - Super modern city that has ancient Roman ruins visible from the local cafe? Insane. Totally walkable. Extremely friendly locals who prided themselves in their English. Better than Paris and I’ll die on that hill.

25 - would you rather own a dishwasher or a laundry machine if you could only have one or the other?

4 -  who is a role model in your life, real or fictional?

This is a very funny one to me because in general I don’t trust real people to be role models. I think you can look up to someone but there’s always this guard of ‘don’t assume they’re a good person’. Growing up in the digital age where every person you might look up to eventually gets found out to be a creep is disheartening. I used to really look up to Noam Chomsky and well… he was a good friend of Epstein.

The exception I’ll give is my mother. She’s not a nice person, we’ll get that out of the way, she’s bitter and angry but by god she saved us. My parent’s marriage was not good and my father tried to destroy our lives in the divorce. You want to talk about a woman with a spine of steel, look no further. I wish she had not had to sell her soul to save us, but she’s why I’m so protective of other people. She protected me the best she could and I’ll share that gift with those around me. I’ve just tried to not let it turn me bitter.

What's your OC's favorite food? Any reason why?

What's a food that gives your OC good memories? Bad ones?

Good - Meat Kababs, big fan of going over to the Vakarian’s house for Lena’s cooking and meat kababs were his favorite

Bad - Dextro Bloody Marys, he’s gotten fucked up one too many times on those spicy motherfuckers and now they make his stomach queasy

Is your OC more of a sweet tooth or savory enjoyer?

Savory because I don’t think Turians would get a ton of enjoyment from sweets

Does your OC have any issues with food textures or tastes? Is there any food they will straight up refuse to eat?

Boy is not a big fan of his vegetables. Although Turians are carnivores, I imagine they’ve evolved to be able to extract some nutrients from plant matter as a means of survival. With most of the meat on the citadel being synthetic I think a balanced diet with additional nutrient sources is important for growth and health. But he still hates it.

Does your OC have any food allergies? How severe is the reaction? If it's not lethal, do they eat the food anyways?

He’s got a general sensitivity to levo foods, but otherwise he has no allergies. He does try to pretend he has allergies though as a kid to get out of eating whatever he doesn’t want. Lena and Stella just slip vegetables into his food when he’s not looking.

I’ve never written this down but Lena was a code breaker for the hierarchy and she and Stella worked together as sort of code breaker and enforcer duo rooting people out of their hides and killing them discreetly. She, Stella, and Castis all left the hierarchy following the Relay 314 Incident, disillusioned by the nature of the fighting (and I am now realizing I’ve messed up my own timeline in How to Raise Your Human having Castis be on the Citadel too soon [whoops ignore that whatever mooooovvvvviiiiinnngggg ooooonnnn I’ll fix it later]).

I swear to god I wasn’t trying to choose violence. I’m so sorry. I also answered for Rook!

35 - What is their dream house like?

Varian - 

Someplace where you can walk out the front door and put your ass immediately into a sunbathing chair with a jaunty umbrella that shades you from the sun as you overlook a beautiful ocean. Talons buried in the warm sand. Coconut water in hand with its own umbrella. No cell service. Maybe just straight up sleeping in a hammock.

After the war though, he stays on the citadel. Can’t let the other half of the self-sacrificing idiot duo out of his sight. He buys fancy shades for the apartment that project a beach scene and sometimes Garrus comes home to him dumping play sand on the ground with the heater cranked up. They don’t talk about it. Sol and Tali refer him to yet another therapist. (Who needs who the most after the war and the loss?)

Rook - A nice apartment in Treviso, near enough to the Diamond to always be close to Viago and Teia and the Crows but secluded off of the Main Street so they have a place to go when they need to get away. Not interested in living in the Dellamorte Estates. This causes some… problems. 

37 - Are they a good sleeper? What position do they sleep in?

Varian - I think there was a time in which he slept so good, curled up in his little nest, fringe and neck appropriately supported. Not a goddamn care in the world. And then Shepard started talking about Geth and reapers and Protheans and he hasn’t slept since the war started. And I don’t think he ever really sleeps well again after that.

Rook - No, maker no. There are nightmares when they sleep. There are doors best left locked and bolted and shut that have a way of coming open when they sleep.

45 - Do they know how to drive a car/some other vehicle? Do they have a licence?

Varian does have a license and he does know how to drive! Quite competently, in fact. Perhaps if he had been driving during The Varren Incident, they wouldn’t have semi-crashed the sky car. (For reference - Shep alludes to an incident in which she steals a malnourished varren from its owner and then unwittingly ropes Varian and Garrus into being her accomplice and driver of her get away car, respectively. The varren flips out in the car and they crash on the Presidium. Yes Castis was working that day. Yes he did have to go bail them out of lock up.)
