self discipline tips
here are tips I discovered very recently:
something is better than nothing. 5 minutes of work are better than zero. Just because you missed something on your schedule doesnât mean you canât still work on it, even for 5 minutes. Grow and build on this.
second drafts / reviews can be done after.
Donât think you are going to do your very best work on the first try. Take the weight of perfectionism off your shoulders.
donât think about doing it. just do it as fast as you can.
build on your productivity, not your failures.
If you come from a past of procrastinating and now feel motivated to change and discipline yourself, do NOT try to do everything at once.
if you have a set of different goals to accomplish, begin with the most important one. Wait until the rotine of working for that one settles in (you feel productive and comfortable-ish), and then begin with the next. Repeat.
this way youâll be building your way up and not juggling everything at the same time, hoping everything works out.
be patient with yourself, youâll get there!
set smaller deadlines for your goals
have monthly and weekly-ish deadlines
e.g. if you are doing a project, due 22nd Feb, set personal deadlines, like have Introduction written by 2nd Feb, have Methods written by 10th Feb, have project complete by 18th Feb.
take them as seriously as you possibly can, donât miss out on yourself.
write realistic daily tasks and donât stop until you finish them. after them you can do whatever you want
on writing realistic daily tasks, the secret is knowing you can only do so much in one day, but trusting you can accomplish everything in the course of any period of time (a week, or 2 weeks or a month, etc.) because you will combine the work from all these different days.
itâs very tempting to write down all the tasks you need to accomplish in one day to just get over with it, but the real deal is you wonât accomplish half of them. Youâll feel very unproductive then, wich leads to demotivation.
spread daily tasks in the time necessary.
have a consistent sleep schedule.
if your mind isnât ready everything will fall apart.
have one rest day per week where you plan nothing, do whatever you want except studying. this can be harder than you expect!
(donât forget these are effective only if you actually put them into practice! good luck babes!!)
ahhhh im really sorry, i know you've answered this but i can't seem to find the ask! what's the app/software you use to digitally make notes? i'm looking to start doing some notes digitally. sorry again!!
Hey! I use Goodnotes :-) I also use digital notebooks and things that I make myself! If you wanted to check them out theyâre at etsy.com/shop/emmastudies! However, all my free printables can work too (e.g. notetaking ones and binder covers). Notability is also an option, it has some cool features but Iâm quite set with using goodnotes! Xxx

June unfilled monthly spread and some stamps Iâve found while cleaning our basement. The stamps were collected by my mom during her teen age years. Itâs amazing how the stamps are way older than me. hello! 1st, this blog & you are AMAZING, 2nd, I'm about to start my first year of uni here in Australia, do you have any tips for what I can do to get prepared? thank you!!!
Starting University Tips
Hey hey! Iâm not sure if you know, but Iâve got a 15-part comprehensive university Series called What I Wish Iâd Known About University, so definitely have a look at that to see the differences between high school and university. Itâs also packed with tips on how you can change your high school studying to university type studying in Part 11 and sprinkled throughout the other parts.Â
Just to summarise with references how you can prepare:
20 Ways to Prepare for University
Make sure youâve enrolled correctly (see Part 1)
Plan out your degree (see Part 1)
Read university guides (see Part 1)
Mark down important dates e.g. census (see Part 1)
Work out travel, take into account bus line times (takes anywhere from 5-20 minutes to wait for the bus + traffic) (see Part 2)
Choose good quality equipment and pack your bag with all the essentials you may need (for tips on how to choose a backpack or laptop or stationery or other things see Part 2Â + Laptop Recommendations)
Evaluate your studying methods, try new ones in order to deal with the huge workload that is about to be unleashed on you, and become good at time management, organisation, planning etc. so that you can keep on top of everything (see Part 3Â and Part 8Â and Part 11)
Join clubs if you want, take into consideration other logistics (see Part 4)
Learn how exams work at university because they are ruthless if you forget to bring something (see Part 5)
Factor in some time to keep in touch with friends/make connections to new ones (see Part 6)
Get a part time job, preferably near home or on campus, if you need financial support (see Part 7)
Find some good study spots when itâs quiet (see Part 9)
Work out your budget and how to save money whilst going to university (See Part 10-1 and Part 10-2)
Buy your textbooks and course material (see Part 10-2)
Apply for scholarships (see Part 10-2)
Adapt to university studying (see Part 11)
Learn how to study from a textbook (see Part 12)
Learn how to deal with lazy group members (see Part 13)
Try and plan for internships or summer research programs etc. (see Set Your Career on Track Before You Even Graduate)
Prepare yourself mentally for the hard work and the new experiences!
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions once youâve finished reading those.Â

ITALIAN EXPRESSIONS
Raga - short for âragazziâ; literally: âguysâ (probably the most used)
Dai - it can be translated to âcome onâ and itâs pronounced like the English word âdieâ (so yeah it can create a little bit of misunderstanding)
Meno Male! - literally âless bad!â; but it means âthank God!â
Magari! - literally âmaybeâ; itâs the italian equivalent of âI wish!â
Basta - it means âthatâs enoughâ âstop itâ âenoughâ
Boh - literally this emoji: ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ or âto have no clueâ. (âDid we have homework for todayâ âbohâ)
Quattro gatti - literally âfour catsâ; it means very few people. (Alla festa eravamo in quattro gatti - at the party we were in four cats)
Come Dio comanda - literally âas God commandsâ; something done properly, like it should be.
Spettegolare - to gossip
Toccare ferro - literally âto touch ironâ; italian equivalent for âknock on woodâ (yeah we touch iron instead)
alzare il gomito - literally: âto raise the elbowâ; to drink too much (if someone raised the elbow he drank more than he should have)
Siga - short for âsigarettaâ which means cigarette (would be âcigaâ in English? Did I just invented a new slang word? Idk)
Ci sta - literally: âit fitsâ it means âthatâs coolâ âsounds goodâ
Fatti furbo - literally: âmake yourself smartâ; it means something like âwake up!â âopen your eyes!â
Un limone - literally: âa lemonâ; itâs a make out session
7 Ways to organize your laptop because we can always be a little more organized on our devices (including myself).Â

Hey guys, my week has been pretty hectic but I made time to create a few printables that will hopefully help you with your school life. Click on the titles (links to the file on my Study Drive) to download them!
T A S K Â T R A C K E R
To help you keep track of all your assignments, homework, projects, etc. Includes a progress bar that you can shade in according to how much of the assignment youâve completed. You can also set a goal or expected score and compare it to your final score. I included fields for âdate givenâ and âdate dueâ so that you can prioritize and plan your tasks accordingly. I wanted to include a box to check when youâve submitted the assignment because sometimes I complete the assignment but forget to submit it, or Iâve already submitted the assignment but panic because I thought I hadnât done it yet. I couldnât squeeze this into the sheet, but I think you could just put a tick beside the due date or something.
F O R M U L AÂ L I S T
For subjects that require you to memorize formulas, like physics, economics, math, etc. The left column is for the formula, while the right is for variables and their units, e.g. âv = u + atâ would go on the left, while the right column would have something like âv: final velocity/ms-1; u: initial velocity/ms-1; a: acceleration/ms-2; t: time/sâ.
H A B I TÂ T R A C K E R
31 columns and 16 rows to help you maintain your habits, e.g. drinking 8 glasses of water a day, exercising, journaling, etc.
 T E S T T R A C K E R
Similar to what I have in my bullet journal in this post. I use it mainly to see the relationship between how much I study and how high I score on tests, but you can also use it to maintain your grades.
Thatâs all for now. Hope these printables help, and may the rest of your school year be well-organized! Oh, and feedback would be rad; I always appreciate it when I find out how I can improve my content. Have a great week :)
