why are little things called little things. they’re everything

Due to personal reasons, I’ll be growing as a person and learning to love myself.

stargazing, the smell of earth after it rains, misty mornings by the sea, earl grey tea, lavender, the smell of old books, charcoal drawings, braids, long conversations late at night, quiet afternoons spent listening to music, baking, owls, winter, open windows, getting so absorbed in a book you forget the world exists, snow globes, watching milk swirl into coffee, getting up early to watch the sunrise, the sound of rain on a rooftop as you try to fall asleep, keeping a journal

pray even when the waters are calm

i love when people are just so in love, its honestly so wonderful. my grandmother went to study abroad during her college days and my grandfather (her boyfriend at the time) missed her so much he saved up to go visit her spontaneously. my friend's dad after getting out of heart surgery was like "wheres my wife, i want to see my wife". my old quran teacher learned to speak her husband's native language (despite them both speaking english) because she wanted to express her love for him in a way he best understood.

I love that feeling I get when it’s about to rain and the wind is rising and there’s some sort of peace in that. I swear I can hear the plants whispering

there will never be anything that compares to finding new pieces of yourself you didn’t even know you would discover. i think that’s a big part of life i’ve overlooked. not only will i grow up more and more but i will also meet more of myself. that’s terrifying but exciting and something to look forward to. maybe at 25 i’ll realize i love a certain food or at 30 i’ll want to learn to play piano or at 50 i’ll take an interest in scuba diving. i don’t know yet all of who i am but i really want to know more.

you can never please everybody. when you stand up for yourself, there will be people who think you’re overreacting or being a jerk. when you try your best to be kind to everyone you meet, there will be people who think you’re being fake or that you desperately want to be liked. you won’t ever be able to be the best version of yourself if you live for other people, because that ‘best version’ is entirely subjective and therefore impossible to embody. be your personal best, your personal favorite, and you’ll attract people who will see you that way as well.

honestly life is all about the little things that u barely even notice, that delicious coffee u had in the morning, ur friend randomly pinching ur cheek, the moon shining brighter than usual, the radio playing your favorite song. pay more attention to these details!!! they make life worth living
