The biggest scam your brain is telling you is that everybody else is human and allowed to make mistakes but that you yourself have to be perfect and flawless to deserve their company

I love fanfic where the author rigidly adheres to all canon except one small thing. Like, they’ve got things in there from secondary sources, they’ve clearly invested a lot of time learning everything they can, and suddenly one character has a different haircut because the author just personally does not vibe with the original one. Bonus points if it’s utterly insignificant to the story but they manage to work it in there multiple times.
