And I am you and what I see is me
I know I've posted this before, but I can't seem to track down that post so if anyone wants some quality peter hammill content. this is an excerpt from an audio interview from the late 80s where he's in his basement studio and his daughters are playing nearby, it's possibly the cutest thing we've got on record from him

Found this on an aging cassette, had to share it. This is from 1992, Mark Goodier interviewing Mark E Smith for a feature called āPersonal Stereoā in which the guest chooses 6 or 7 favourites and talks about them a bit, culminating in a competion to win a Walkman with an album of the guestās choice inside it (this is glossed over a little so the feature had presumably been running regularly for a while). It was broadcast as part of Goodierās original BBC Radio 1 Evening Session. Smith chooses The Kinks, Augustus Pablo, Van Der Graaf Generator and Can amongst others. The tunes have been chopped out and Goodier talks way too much but this is still worth hearing.
(NB - note the mild dig at The House of Love - at the time, The Fall and THoL were both signed to Phonogram via Fontana)

Hereās a link to a transcript of the audio if youāre unable to listen for any reason.
Maybe I should use this website more often. Iām not sure how many people here would recognise me from⦠other places but I like popping here every so often and having another feed of cool prog rock-related stuff to read through.
I donāt know how to draw or make cool fan media, but maybe some people would be interested in seeing reviews and the weird trivia I find interesting. You never know.
hi i want to share my favourite songs from the jan dukes albums on spotify:
also on spotify via compilations:
sun symphonica (anthems in eden, 2012)
eldorado (prog rock & beyond, 2017)
love potion number nine (ultimate 70s, 2022) as 'the noy's band'
that's the band's entire discography minus two songs. you have no excuse to not be listening to jan dukes de grey.
if you like folk music listen to sorcerers.
if you like prog listen to sun symphonica, then download mice and rats in the loft to hear the rest.
if you like post-punk listen to strange terrain.
if you want to hear derek at his craziest and freakiest listen to his cover of love potion number nine.
please...look how beautiful and cool he is...
i would recommend jan dukes to fans of van der graaf generator, mike oldfield, jethro tull and all enjoyers of unique/eccentric voices e.g. peter hammill š«¶, roger chapman, viv stanshall, even mike patton...
a pack of my vdgg fanarts

tormato!
this is the first album in my bhm series! tormato is an album i slept on for quite a while, but itās come to mean a lot to me! it feels both grand and whimsy at the same time. now rediscovering tormato, the entire album hasnāt left my most played songs for a few months now! (release, release has STAYED #1 lmao)
i chose that line from release, release because it really speaks to me, as a teacher i tend not to think about myself as much as my kids and helping THEM shine by doing my part
as corny as this sounds it makes me so happy and feels very important to me being able to combine my blackness with my very NOT black interest to make something that is personal to me and me only. iām kind of past the era of pleasing other people, not ābeing black enough for thisā or ātoning it down for thatā
anyways mini vent over funny tomato cover š
i need to stop posting things and then editing them immediately to add another thought lmao
