Maegor was so much of a feminist that he didnβt have a biological father because he wanted to give his mommy 100% of the credit. Maegor loved gay people so much that he married three of them. Maegor named the first female heir in Westeros history and then bequeathed her his weapon of mass destruction after he passed. Maegor literally died trying to destroy reactionary patriarchal religious fundamentalism. And what brought him back? The power of women. Maegor feminist Maegor socialist Maegor reads Judith Butler.

"here's my original character, Man Who Sucks But Loves His Daughter Very Much" and it's a guy who worships at the altar of patriarchal violence and the woman he uses as an excuse and an effigy to absolve him

a long time ago in a discussion of non-toxic masculinity, a podcaster i was listening to said that he felt positively masculine when he (anecdote simplified) noticed that his friend looked hungry and made sure he had a sandwich. and that's lived in my head since because there's, like, a lot to unpack there, right?
[n.b. in the rest of the post read "traditionally designated as" before "masculine" or "feminine"]
feeding the family is certainly a masculine virtue, but only in the sense of providing money or labor that allows food to be made. noticing that people need food and providing specific food items is strongly feminine. so already we're at a place where the thing that makes the speaker feel specifically masculine is something that's most commonly a feminine trait.
and then there's the really obvious thing, which is that this is something that in no way needs to be gendered: this is an act that makes the speaker feel like a good friend. the goal is, of course, to define a positive masculinity against the posited aggressive, violent "true" masculinity of the right; but it highlights the impossibility of defining virtues as specifically masculine or feminine. if something is virtuous (watching out for a friend's well-being), then it is virtuous for everyone. the artificiality of the constructs "masculine" and "feminine" is made crystal clear by the fact that, in attempting to outline a specific masculine virtue, the speaker immediately chooses one that has historically been feminine.

We need more women characters who are Male Protagonists. You know. Slightly haggard. She's splashing cold water on her face and gripping the edge of the sink staring in the mirror for a minute. She's coping badly with her deadwife
Ok listen I get that people tagging posts with men is a rule of physics on this hellsite but it's kind of bizarre how badly some of you have failed the assignment on this one. A generic male protagonist archetype who is a man is nothing. That's just the normal cliche I'm talking about subverting. What?
Like if you are For Serious headcanoning your blorbo as a trans woman I am kissing you on the head. But I KNOW most of you are not doing that. Come on. For one dollar name a fictional woman. No being a loser does not make him a woman try again
