The idea behind my book was for it to be a reminder that I have beautiful people in my life and also that there is beauty to be found in everything even dying things. I incorporated portraits of my friends along with photographs of dried wild flowers that are from my home in Flagstaff. These pictures make me happy. This book was an opportunity to make something that I can go to when I’m feeling bad or think that everything is pointless. I included a Jack Kerouac poem in the book because he is one of my favorite poets. This book is about appreciating life even though we are really just dying. I wanted the dried flowers to show how even when things aren’t flourishing, they can still be beautiful and have purpose. I used a simple black and white color scheme because I didn’t want the layout of the book to distract from the images within. The black pages linked with the flowers because they are dead. The white photos are linked with my friends faces because they are still living. 

The concept is that hands are amazing. Great civilizations have been built by human hands. Hands are what make humans distinct from other mammals. We touch and feel with our hands. This is a tribute to hands and all that they do. The shadows would signify how hands leave there mark even when the actual hand is not visible. 

The concept would be that all of these objects whether important or not influence or effect my life in someway or an other. It would be interesting to see the plethora of things that are surrounding me and how organizing them by color might group objects that are never found together, in the same category. 

I want this book to be a reminder of the beautiful people in my life.The book will be a tribute to nature (the flowers) and people in my life . I sometimes get depressed and forget that I have a lot of great friends and family that love me. I also forget to enjoy the little things when I get into a depressive state, and the dried flowers will be a reminder that even things that are dead and dried out hold a special kind of beauty.
