The winds were hurling over the mountain tops, bringing message of winter that was soon to arrive in Misthaven. The northern kingdoms were first to witness the change of seasons, including the lands of king Leopold. Yet neither the sound of tree branches aching under its force, the leaves shaking, nor the heavy, cold rain could wake the young queen from the dreams she was trapped in while the storm outside the castle kept singing his terrifying tune.
The young brunette found herself far away from the place she was supposed to call home. In her nightly sleep she was carried away with the winds into another place, a fortress she had visited recently, to a woman who had enchanted her. Against all rational thought the intimidating lady was in her head at all times. Her voice that promised of a better future, her gestures safe and protective.
The sound of thunder was roaring through Regina’s chambers and finally woke her up. For a moment she tried to capture the dream she had had, yet unable to hold the image of the woman who had stolen her heart. With bare feet the young woman walked over to her balcony and watched the storm wash away the last evidence of summer. Her mind though was at a different place. Those dreams were a recurring incident, making the queen’s heart ache for someone she could never have.
It was tragic. In the midst of her darkest hours she had found light in form of a dragon, only to know she was stuck here in this place with her husband, tied to a marriage that should have never been. She blinked away the tears and took a deep breath. Maybe one day she was going to be free, maybe one day she could decide on fate all by herself. And when this day was to come Regina was going to take what she wanted, including the love and affection of a certain dragon.

Further south, the weather had yet to settle into winter and storms. It was colder than in the high summer, but the crops were still being harvested and preserved for the winter ahead. And to be sent up north in the kingdom.
The lands surrounding the Dark Fortress were once again fertile. The villagers had feared the dragon regaining her fire, but with the fertile ground they accepted the loss of a few sheeps a month.
Maleficent stood out, looking over the darkening lands as the sun set. The air changed and with the change she spread her wings.
The sight of the dragon against the sky, still sent fear through the people below, but the hunting had mostly ceased making her flights safer. At least until she neared the King’s castle.
Under the cover of the storm’s darkness, Maleficent landed and changed into her human form surrounded by the trees near Regina’s chambers. She stepped out from the tree line, eyes set in the balcony. “There you are,” she whispered as she spotted Regina.
A whisp of smoke and magic had Maleficent standing on the balcony balustrade. “Hello Little One.”
There had once been a time Regina had been dreaming of a bright future for herself. A life full of love and adventure with the one person that held her heart. Unfortunately her mother Cora had had different plans with her dear daughter and now she was here, trapped in a golden cage in the home of the girl that destroyed the life she had wished she was going to have some day. Now she stood by the balcony and asked herself if this was everything fate had in store for her.
The only thing she considered as some kind of distraction of her misery were the magical lessons she had with Rumplestiltskin. The more she learned about the gifts she had inherited from her mother, the closer her revenge on Snow White came.
The sudden sound of a very familiar voice close to her, snapped the young queen out of her thoughts. The sight of the blonde woman in her chambers was unexpected but didn’t hold her back from smiling. It quickly faded though when she came closer.
“Maleficent… what are you doing here?” Through the howling of the storm she tried to hear whether guards were on their way. She might have missed the dragon in the sky, but maybe someone else had seen her.
Maleficent smirked at the surprised look on Regina’s face. “Heard about a storm up north, had to come investigate,” she explained as she walked along the balustrade.
As Regina’s smile faded, Maleficent stepped down, into the shadow of the tower. “I wasn’t seen. No one is out in this weather. And your guards are huddled up in their sheds to stay warm and dry.”
She reached out towards the young queen, searching her eyes for the truth. She had yet to find Regina wishing her away. “The weather is much nicer down south. You should take a trip.”
For few seconds the young queen assumed this was yet another dream she was still in. She soon realised though that Maleficent really was here at the castle. Her first instinct was to approach her quickly and rest herself in the dragon’s safe arms. Knowing though this would have been highly inappropriate she held herself back.
Her joy to see Maleficent here quickly faded and was replaced by her worries. It was ridiculous worrying about the safety of a dragon and she was aware of that, yet she could not help it but do it anyways. She hesitated before reaching up to the blonde and cupping her cheek.
“You should be more careful though. You cannot just come to this castle. Hell knows what Leopold would do to you if he finds out you have come to visit”, the young queen whispered, despite her delight to see the other woman. “It sounds like a good idea to try escaping this horrible weather but you as well as I know I can’t just go away from here.”
As the queen approached, Maleficent wrapped her arms around her and pulled her close. “Stop worrying, Little One,” she whispered. “Leopold will never know, he’s too preoccupied to realise that he’s not the one keeping his queen happy.” Maleficent added confidently.
Maleficent turned her face into Regina’s hand and closed her eyes. The human touch was warm and comforting in this harsh weather. “I could steal you away, you know. In the darkness of the night. But then you’d be trapped in my castle…” she smiled and pressed a kiss to Regina’s palm.
“So you’re not going to invite inside?” She teased and tilted her head, grinning. “Dragons and looming rain aren’t a good match.”
The young queen wished nothing more than take the dragon by her word and let her take her away. But they both knew this would happen under the condition that she was going to be trapped yet again in another castle. She might have been able to live with that as long as she had Maleficent, but Leopold would not be happy to have his wife stolen from him. It was less because of his love for the young woman but rather because of his pride and dignity.
“You know I wished nothing more than to go with you away from here and never return. But not if I have to live in fear for your life”, Regina whispered and looked at the blonde with eyes full of sorrow and pain.
The smile returned upon her face and she pulled the other woman with her back into her chambers. The balcony doors closed and the noises of the storm were silenced for now. “Let’s see to get you warmed up again”, she said. The young brunette knew dragon’s were not fond of weather like this, which was why Maleficent’s visit held so much meaning to her.
“Kings tend not to die of old age. I’ll wait.” Maleficent said, hoping to ease the sadness from Regina’s eyes.
Maleficent laughed as Regina pulled her into the warmth of her chambers. “I know of a few ways to regain warmth,” she grinned and ran her hands down over the queen’s body. “And ways to put a smile on your lips that’ll linger for days.” She promised seductively.
While Maleficent might have been right with that, Regina didn’t know whether she herself had that much patience. Not if she had fear every day and night the king was going to pay her a visit.
The younger woman raised her brows and looked up at the dragon. “Maleficent… are you attempting to seduce the queen? That is a very bold move, considering I am a married woman”, she teased her. There was a glance in her eyes though that made her lead the blonde further back into her chambers.
Her eyes were wandering over the beautiful older woman before she was brave enough to stand on her tiptoes and capture her lips in a kiss.
“Succeeding, not attempting,” Maleficent grinned, following Regina further into the warmth of her chambers.
Her lips curled into a soft smile as Regina kissed her and wrapped her arms around her, lifting her up to prolong the kiss.
As the kiss ended, Maleficent slowly eased her hold on Regina and stepped back to look at her. “I heard a rumour…” she began er she opened her cape and slid it down over her arms, “about your ‘dear husband’… is he teaming up with king Stefan about hunts?”
Maleficent tilted her head, she had come to believe king Stefan had ceased dragon hunting, but if king Leopold suspected his wife of infidelity with a dragon , king Stefan wouldn’t take much persuasion to start the hunts again. So far Maleficent had been careful when coming to see her Little One, believing she had not been seen.
No matter how much worry the young queen was plaguing, the distraction of Maleficent’s kisses eased her mind and pet her forget and if it was just for a few moments.
The smile, caused by the blonde’s presence quickly washed away with her question. “No I… he and King Stefan met some time ago,but as far as I am aware they did not discuss such a thing”, she replied and sank back down on her bed.
On the other hand even if the topic had been part of their conversation Regina was the last one to know. Leopold didn’t see nothing more than some kind of trophy in her, a pretty show off. She was never going to be more to him as long as she didn’t bear him a male heir and everyone knew that.
Fear over her dragon’s safety made her heart beat faster in her chest. “You shouldn’t come here anymore… it is too dangerous for you.” If they hadn’t found out yet they would some day. It was selfish of the young queen to continue an affair with this woman and risk her life just because her young and naive heart thought this was love.
Maleficent walked up to the young queen, a smirk still on her lips. “But I want to come here,” she said and traced her finger over Regina’s neck, out over her shoulder.
“Besides, most weapons that can do ore than injure me, let alone kill me, have been lost for eons. I haven’t seen one since I was a young one. I highly doubt the kings have one.”
Maleficent’s finger moved down over Regina’s arm and she curled her fingers around Regina’s wrist. “Are you not at all happy to see me? Do you really wish me to leave?”
The touch was light as a feather, yet it made the young woman shiver. It wasn’t the fact that she didn’t like it but rather that no one ever had been this gentle to her ever before. No matter what happened she knew Maleficent would never hurt her.
Her eyes traveled up until they met coral blue ones. “That is the point my dear. You don’t know for sure. And even without weapons… what a life would await you? They would hunt you, they would not rest and you could never settle, constantly on the edge on the promise of the next attack.”
The expression on her face softened. She moved her hand and guided the blonde’s up to her lips. “You know exactly that I wish nothing else but having you by my side, but not at the cost of your own safety. I cannot lose you as well. You are the only good thing in my life I have left.” Her voice had gotten heavier, her eyes averted from the dragon.
“I am just a simple human, Maleficent. You deserve someone by your side who is worthy. Someone you don’t have to hide in the shadows with.”
Makeficent watched as Regina lifted their hands. “Little One,” she said softly before she wrapped both arms around the queen.
“You’re not simple, in any meaning of the word. No woman is. You’re maginificent, regal, clever and very attractive. You’re more than worthy to be by my side. It hurts that you’re not able to.”
Maleficent ran her hand up over Regina’s back and into her dark hair. “Dragons bond with their chosen one. It’s not a bond that’s easily broken, not is it fully understood, even among dragons. I would find it difficult to be parted from you for too long, with our bond strengthening each time I’m in your presence.”
The young queen was not exactly very familiar with the dragons customs or even their very nature. Ever since she had Maleficent though she had done a lot of research and had found a few notes about their definition of love. Unfortunately Regina thought they didn’t even come close to describe it. This bond that formed between a dragon and their mate was beyond anything the human mind could ever grasp. It went beyond to what her people called true love. It went deeper, to the very core of the two individuals, like an invisible string that entangled both of their lives.
The young brunette would have considered herself lucky to be part of something like that but in their case it was both a blessing and a curse. She was not a free woman, bound in a wrecked marriage. There was the possibility to take her things and go with the dragon, yet the possible consequences were way too dangerous to risk that.
With a sigh she sank into the blonde’s arms. The warmth of her body made the queen relax. “I just wished I would be free. Free from this marriage, free from Rumplestiltskin and my mother’s grasp”, she whispered. Even though Cora had found her new place in Wonderland thanks to her daughter, it wasn’t a far reach to assume she was still looking over how things were working out for Regina.
“We could go wherever we wanted… far away from here.”
“One day we will,” Maleficent promised her. “One day this will all be different. One day all your dreams will come through. Soo your magic with flourish beyond your wildest imagination. Soon the old king will die, and a Queen will rise.”
Maleficent hoped her words would come through. And she hoped she’d get to see Regina in all her glory.
“Come with me. Let me steal me whisk you away for the night. No one else will know and no know will know what causes the dazed smiles on your lips for days to come.”
Maleficent had the fascinating gift to make the young queen believe she could do anything if she just wanted to. Her words and reassurance helped her put the insecurities aside and make her think she was right. One day this all was going to happen and she was going to be with the woman she loved.
Regina’s smile broadened. “I think after the days I had to go without seeing you, I think I can accept that offer to accompany you to your fortress”, she answered and played with the dragon’s finger. The blonde had taken her away for the night many times before and while it might have been dangerous to get caught, they always managed to cover their little affair.
With a smug grin on her face she got up from her bed and looked at Maleficent. “Make me yours and if it is just for the night.”
Maleficent smirked, as she leaned down and kissed Regina’s lips tenderly. It never took much convincing for Regina to agree to go with her. Of course it didn’t. They always had the best of times.
“I’d make you my queen, if I could,” she whispered before she wrapped them up in magic and whisked them off to a nearby forest. She couldn’t use magic to go all the way to the fortress, but hidden by the trees she could transform to her dragon form.
The dragon sniffed the air cautiously, before she lowered her head down to Regina, nudging her gently, inviting her to climb up on her back.
Not even for a single moment the brunette doubted that Maleficent would take her away from this castle, this life and all of the horrible things that came along, if she got the chance. And if the consequences of this were not as severe and unpredictable, Regina would not have hesitated to come. But for now things had to be like this, whether they both liked it or not.
It was always quite the sight to see the other woman transform into a dragon. The very first time the young queen had been witness to it she had to admit there had been some fear. Maleficent could have just as easily decided to roast her along with Stefan and his men.
Now though she saw things quite differently. With a smile on her lips she climbed up the dragon like she had done so many times before. By then she had learned how to make sure she was not going to slip off the black scales and enjoyed the wind brushing through her hair once Maleficent climbed the nightly sky.
There were only a few Maleficent felt comfortable changing forms in front of. With Regina safely on her back, she ascended the night sky, finding a gentle glide, once she was above the clouds.
Steering clear of the main roads, Maleficent took them over forests, clearings and sparkling lakes, visible when the clouds grew thin.
Once the fortress came into view, Maleficent descended and landed on the soft forest floor. Only once Regina was on the ground did she change back into her human form.
“Come?” She said and held her hand out for Regina. “There’s a lake here, fed by a hot under water spring. It’ll help you relax and loosen up from all your worries and troubles.”
The young queen left all of her worries back down on earth. The wind carried them away while they let the world disappear underneath them. In the beginning Regina had not been very comfortable with flying, afraid she was going to slip off and fall to her death. The blonde though had shown her how she was going to be safe on those little trips into the sky.
For a few moments she allowed herself to close her eyes and enjoy this before she noticed the dragon descend again. The forbidden fortress came into sight, as majestic and threatening as ever. The brunette laughed to herself. In hindsight it had been incredibly stupid of her just to barge into that castle. The other woman had told her quite clearly that any other dragon would have roasted her on sight. After all no one should have the courage to break into a dragon’s lair.
They didn’t go directly to the fortress though and landed in the forest. Regina frowned a little but the older woman quickly explained. “A bath truly sounds like a wonderful thing”, she had to admit and took her lover’s hand. They wandered through the dark woods along a path which could only be left to imagination. The fact that no moonlight dared to peak through the tree crowns did not help either. After a while the trees parted and granted view on a lake that emitted steam into the air. The sight was almost alluring and the queen slowly came closer.
In the dark of the night she quickly got rid of her clothes. “Now come on my dear dragon. Or can’t you keep up with your queen anymore?” she asked giggling, stole a kiss from her and then dove into the waters that captured her in a warm embrace.
“I’m a centuries might part us in age, but I can still keep up with you. I do however take great pleasure in watching you,” she said as she stopped by the edge of the lake.
Maleficent slowly removed her garments before she extended her leg, dipping her foot into the warm water. Pleased by the temperature she followed Regina into the pool.
“This isn’t a bath, dear. But you might need one after. The water is filled with white clay, which makes your skin ever so soft.”
When the water covered her to her waist, she sunk in deeper and closed her eyes, as the water relaxed her taunt muscles and eased her mind.
The nightly sky watched over them as the two women walked into the small lake and enjoyed one of nature’s most fascinating phenomena. The water was warm, very warm even but not in an uncomfortable way. It almost instantly helped the brunette relax once her whole body was inside.
“Oh so my dragon likes to take advantage of the sight her queen grants her. Isn’t that good to know”, she said and turned around to her. For a moment she was totally in awe of the beauty that the dragon was. Never in her whole life she had encountered someone as perfect as her. Only then the young queen realised that she was starring so she averted her eyes and found the dark forest very fascinating all of a sudden.
Once Maleficent found herself in the lake as well she came back closer and stole a sweet little kiss. Sometimes she just really could not help herself. “Thank you… for taking me out of that castle and bringing me here.” Regina might have been the queen but for her husband and the entire royal court she was nothing more than a trophy and an empty vessel who’s only purpose lay in the fact to bear a male heir for the kingdom.
The young woman was trapped in a life she never had wanted. The only time she didn’t feel like nothing was with the imp when he taught her one of his lessons. Or with the dragon but with her in an entirely different way. She had told her over and over again that she deserved more than this and slowly the brunette started to believe the blonde.
Maleficent smirked. She did indeed love to watch Regina. Especially naked and alluring. But she could spend all day watching her, if she was given the chance.
The kisses were a nice surprise. Cute, childlike, free. Maleficent ran her hands over Regina’s hips, settling at her waist. “You’re welcome, my queen,” she husked and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
Maleficent ran her hands to Regina’s backs and down over her backside, trailing kisses down over Regina’s temple and cheek, before she captures her lips in a tender kiss.
It had started with a young woman bursting through the doors of the dark fortress. It had started with an enthusiastic queen and a lost dragon. It had started as an affair. What had developed between the two of them ever since that day though had become so much more. It was a love hidden in the shadows, a love incited by books. A love that was born to live and die without having a real chance to bloom, flourish and develop.
Regina knew the truth. As much as she wanted to believe that they had a chance for something real, this was nothing fate had in store for her. Maleficent was the one for her but it was not meant to be the way they wished.
All those thoughts that were haunting her at night were gone though as soon as she found herself in the presence of the dragon. Her lips were so soft it made her breath hitch as the brunette almost melted into her touch. Her hands were wrapping around her waist and pulled her closer. Lost in a kiss that seemed to make up for all the wrong in her life she stayed right there.
A noise in the woods startled her though and made her pull away from those sweet lips that tasted of burning wood and lavender. Her anxiety they were going to be caught one day made her eyes scan their surroundings. It probably only had been a wolf or a deer yet her heart was still racing.
Maleficent hummed against Regina’s lips, content to have her Little One in her arms again.
As Regina pulled back and looked around, Maleficent tightened her hold of her. She too looked around, listening for intruders to their sanctuary.
“Shh,” she said and moved her hand to Regina’s chest, feeling her heart pound against her palm.
Maleficent closed her eyes listening more intensely. Another sound and she whipped her head towards the source. “Regina, go to my fortress. The protective charms will let your through.” She said hurriedly as sounds of horses interrupted the quiet of the night. “Do forgive me,” she added before she used her magic to send, a very nude, Regina to safety in the Forbidden Fortress.
Maleficent used her magic to get dressed again and stood straight and tall as the hunting party arrived.
With a gasp, Maleficent landed in courtyard of the Forbidden Fortress. There was a hole through the membrane of one of her wings and an arrow stuck out from her hind leg. She groaned as she changed back to her human form. “Someone bring the chamomile!” She called out.
The membrane injury was now a cut on her back and the arrow was situated in her thigh. “Regina? Are you here?” Had they reached her? Had they taken her? Maleficent wasn’t sure. The army had been bigger than anticipated.

“I heard a rumour...” she began er she opened her cape and slid it down over her arms, “about your ‘dear husband’... is he teaming up with king Stefan about hunts?”

Heavy in your arms
The first glimpses of a rising sun were falling through the window and enlightened the bedroom, revealing the bodies of two women in the light of this brand new day. The sudden brightness made the brunette stir lightly and hide her face in an attempt to find her way back into sleep. The sound of birds in the trees though made her eyes flutter open. Her gaze caught the woman right next to her, who found herself still in a deep slumber. A smile grazed the former queen’s lips while she was watching her lover for a few moments. Maleficent was as beautiful as a piece of art, with her golden locks spread on the white pillows underneath her and her face in an uncommon peaceful manner. Only then the realisation hit the mayor. She was still here with the dragon. She had fallen asleep. This was not supposed to happen. As much as she loved to spend time with the other woman this was nothing more than an affair, a way to let of steam. Or at least that was what she was telling herself every time Regina felt herself struggling. She could not allow this to be more. In a sudden rush she climbed out of bed and collected her clothes that were spread on the floor on the night before. Quietly she began to dress herself as her gaze wandered over to the blonde and her heart ached by the view. But as much as she wished the situation was different, this here was not a thing to last. @adragonnomore
Maleficent could only agree. This world had disappointments. The richness and diversity in the nature was major. At least here. Maleficent’s couldn’t speak for the entire workd. She knew it was large, but she also knew she had to stay within town limits. Luckily town limits spread far into the woodlands.
Reminiscing felt like old times, comfortable and warm. “You’re not exactly dressed for a night time excursion,” Maleficent said as she got up. “But with a scarf and some gloves, your coat might just be enough to keep you warm.”
After finding more outerwear, Maleficent got dressed to go out. Gone were the stylish cut coat and the heels that made her even taller. A good pair of hiking boots and a dark denim jacket in their place. “Come on, little one. It’s a bit of a hike to get to the good things.”
A scarf and gloves were the only thing Regina was going to agree to. In no ways she would change into some hiking boots as well. The attire Maleficent was wearing looked strange on someone like her, strange but good. On the other hand though she probably could never dress in anything that was to rob her from her everlasting beauty.
The former queen smiled at the sound of her nickname and opened the front door of the cabinet. “You do know I have grown a bit since you have given me that name. In age and size if i may say so”, she teased her dragon and stepped out onto the night.
Fall had approached Maine fast this year and the winds were relentless. The brunette though enjoyed this kind of weather, when the darkness slowly crept over Storybrooke, squeezing out the light summer had brought into town.
She followed the blonde who obviously knew where to search for the herbs and tugged the coat a bit closer. It must have been ages since she had done something like this.
Maleficent took Regina’s hand in hers as they walked down the pathways. “You’re still shorter and much younger than I, so the name stays,” she said with a smile.
Maleficent stopped and crouched down. “Look, you might be destroying nature in this realm, but the common wood-sorrel is still thriving. I use it rather than lemon.” She said as she picked the delicate leaves. “But this can be picked at all times of day.” Maleficent straightened up again.
“Tonight I’m looking for lavender mint and lemon balm.” Maleficent reached out for Regina’s hand again. “And hopefully no monsters.”
Maleficent was probably the only person who would even dare to give the former queen such a nickname, or at least the only one who was allowed to approach her like that.
Even though the moon was high in the sky its light barely made it through the thick crowns of the trees. The brunette didn’t have such a good eyesight as the dragon and helped herself with a little trick. She let small flames dance in the air around them, enlightening their way like tiny little fireflies.
Regina listened to the blonde as carefully as she had done all those years ago. “I know. I still have the book you once gave me about herbs and plants. I happened to look into it from time to time”, she admitted and looked at the leaves.
“Well as far as I am aware the only one we might run into is Ruby. I do hope there are not any other monsters around here. The kraken was more than enough.” They eventually found a way to bring the beast back to where it came from and since then it had been quiet in the small town. Yet with there luck that could change again any second.
“Ruby… she’s the werewolf, right? I haven’t really been introduced to her. And I’ve never encountered her out here.” Maleficent said easily.
She didn’t mind if she didn’t find any ingredients tonight. Spending the time with Regina was all she needed.
“Are you doing all right in your heels,” Maleficent asked as they made their way deeper into the woods where the trails were less used and harder to differentiate from the forest floor.
“I assume she is avoiding this part of the woods now. Don’t get me wrong my dear but even were werewolves have quite the respect when it comes to dragons.” Regina wished it was different but the majority in Storybrooke still thought of the blonde as the villain they knew from the enchanted forest and due to her own experience it took some time to get rid of that stigma.
“I am doing just fine with my heels don’t worry. I have learned to walk with them on any ground if necessary. I am just not the type of person for hiking boots”, she chuckled and looked down at the dragon’s feet.
After a while the forest got less dense. A few moments later the former queen stepped out into a clearing that was covered over and over with moon flowers. They had been a rare breed even back in the enchanted forest, so it came to her as a surprise to encounter those flowers here. The whole place seemed to glow under the dim light of the firmament reflecting on the plants pedals.
Regina was fascinated for a moment and squeezed Maleficent’s hand. “Thank you for inviting me to come along”, she whispered in awe of the view.
“The hiking boots and the coat are only for the woods. Trust me, I prefer the suits and heels too.” Maleficent said and leaned in, nuzzling gently against Regina’s ear.
The clearing looked even more beautiful in the moon light. Covered by the blooming flowers. “You’re welcome,” she replied as she put her basket down. She stepped behind Regina and wrapped her arms around her.
“It’s beautiful, but nothing will ever compare to your beauty.”
It was amazing how beautiful something as simple as a field of flowers could be. The brunette leaned into the dragon’s embrace when she felt her arms around her waist. The smell of her, a mixture of lavender and sandalwood was tickling her nose and made her smile.
For a moment Regina was grateful it was dark enough so Maleficent didn’t see how she was blushing. Instead of a response she turned around in her arms, pulled her down and kissed her deeply.
Their eyes met when they pulled apart, leaving a warm feeling inside the mayors chest. It took her a few seconds to find her voice again but once she did she said: “Now let’s continue before we are stuck out here until morning.”
“You wouldn’t want to be stuck here?” Maleficent teased and reached up, touched Regina’s cheek tenderly. “At least you’ve got a dragon to keep you warm,” she added and pecked the tip of her nose.
They made their way around the meadow, so they wouldn’t destroy too many flowers. A little further into the darkness of the woods, Maleficent found small patches of her desired flowering herbs.
After harvesting enough herbs, while leaving enough for the plants to thrive, Maleficent took Regina’s hand again. “Let’s head home. Have a nice glass of wine, and a bath, while the fire warms up the house and the bed?”
The night had gotten quite cold and even though she was wearing a coat, a scarf and gloves, Regina was freezing by the time they had collected all plants Maleficent had had in mind for her garden.
The thought off a hot bath in that moment seemed too good to be true. “You know how to make me happy”, the brunette said with a smile. She kept her eyes on the dark path when they walked back to the cabin. Something had disturbed the peace and quiet of the woods and it had definitely not been them.
For a moment the former queen stopped by the front door and listened to the secrets of the night, hoping she was going to catch something that explained her sudden uneasiness. After a few seconds she shook it off and followed the dragon inside. Immediately she approached the fireplace and warmed her stiff fingers.
“I do hope you intend to keep your promise of a bath”, the brunette said to the other woman and shivered lightly.
Maleficent went straight for the fireplace and soon a warm fire was illuminating the sitting room and into the kitchen. Only then did she realise that Regina hadn’t been straight behind her.
“Oh most definitely,” Maleficent said as she took off her coat and sat down to unlace her boots. She rubbed Regina’s shoulder gently. “I’ll be right back, carrying wine.” She promised as she hurried into the surprisingly spacious bathroom and turned on the tab for a warm bath.
In the kitchen she filled two glasses with the wine Regina had brought over and brought them back to the fireplace. “All right, little one?”
