We are super thrilled to announce that our Social Club is up and running. This group is designed for youngsters between the ages of 3-6 years. The program is super fun and engaging for children. It entails lots of dance, drama, music, and games aimed to enhance children’s social skills, life skills, and problem-solving strategies, including conversation and basic interaction skills. The curriculum is designed to help children improve communication through eye contact, tone of voice, body language, listening and conversations and use these skills in a variety of activities, such as group discussion, cooperative games, role-playing, music, dance & drama, art projects, and recreational activities. There will be 8-10 participants in the group. The Voice-O-Meter provides visual support to students who have difficulties regulating their volumes and voices throughout the learning sessions. This is a SIMPLE visual that can be printed, cut, laminated and assembled with velcro. This can be either attached to the student’s desk or printed on cardstock for durable mobility! . This is useful to provide a non-verbal clue to the kids when they are being too noisy or loud. ℹ️ Safety Training Being safe is of utmost importance for all kids. So, does it come naturally? Can we teach how to be safe? Is it easy to teach? . Kids diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often lack safety awareness skills. Safety awareness skills include but are not limited to the following: safely crossing the street, avoiding situations that may cause harm to oneself or others, “stranger awareness,” fire safety skills, and knowledge of community signs. Safety awareness skills are important throughout all stages of life; from early childhood, to adolescence, to adult life and necessary across all environments (e.g., home, community, school, workplace). Teaching these skills are not only crucial to keeping individuals safe but also giving them the tools to lead a more independent life. Those diagnosed with autism can be taught safety awareness skills using Behavioral Skills Training (BST), video modeling, a combination of both and/or In-Situ training. .
