Let me settle the 'is it fetishism and is it bad?' debate once and for all:
Being attracted to any kind of body is normal. Fat bodies. Trans bodies. Disabled bodies. All normal. Being extra attracted to a specific kind of body is normal too. Totally normal to have a type.
Not unlearning the societal stigma attached to those kinds of bodies, the people who inhabit those bodies, and the people who fuck them, to the point where you do any of the following:
Only want to date/fuck the person in secret.
Reduce the person to the feature that you desire and ignore the rest of who they are as a person.
Expect the person to be a walking porn fantasy instead of a real person with their own sexual preferences and boundaries.
Would no longer love the person if the stigmatized aspect of their body changed.
Consider yourself superior to the person, think the person should be 'grateful' that you love their body, etc.
See the person as a temporary adventure while planning to eventually settle down with someone whose body isn't stigmatized.
Is bad and harmful and you shouldn't be dating anyone until you've worked on your shit, because this makes you a very terrible partner. This doesn't mean you are a bad person with bad-fetishist-desires who can only desire people badly, it means you need to unlearn societal stigma so you can be a better partner to the people you desire.
Thank you for coming to me ted talk.
This is the best way I've seen it said. Following up on this with some lived experience around being the partner.
The owner of the stigmatized body you're attracted to is going to have their own feelings about their body. They will probably not be at the same comfort level that you are. Neither of you are wrong for this. Neither of you is more or less confident/body positive for this.
Confidence is not a set value. It can change weekly, daily, and even multiple times per day. Do not expect improvement or assume improvement will happen. If you are chasing a 'happier and more confident' version of your partner you are harming the partner you have.
On the brighter side: confidence comes when you aren't chasing it. When you're looking back and seeing how far they've come, because you supported them as they were in all of those cumulative moments. That's when you've made a difference. They're choosing more self expression, you're supporting that choice.
If you've been living in a more conventional body your whole life, you're going to start getting stares. From strangers, from family members, and even some friends. Your partner is getting 200% more.
Many, many people now view you as your partner's entrapped assistant. You will get judgement, sympathy, support, condemnation, and some really invasive questions. You will be told things about your partner "to help you". None of these will be helpful points to think about.
always interesting whenever people start talking about polyamory as particularly unstable or prone to jealousy bc it begs the question of if they’ve ever seen or heard of monogamous couples
are you aware that those people are having sincere earnest discussions on whether following someone on social media counts as cheating
contrary to popular belief not everyone has an innate sense of internal gender or care to have one or seek a name for it, some people go their whole lives without questioning their occupation in one of two gender roles, but for some people, if pressed, they don’t feel that internal sense of ‘i am a woman’ or ‘i am a man’, and in that case i feel the switch over to transgender vs cisgender relies on active identification of a gender other than the one they were assigned. if someone’s like ‘idk dude I just work here’ then that’s valid
#i would describe my gender as not exactly ‘idk dude i just work here’ #more like…..when someone assumes you work somewhere that you don’t #but you know how to help them so you do it anyway #my gender is wearing a red shirt at a target
These are the best tags
A portion of people in the notes are like ‘but that makes you trans. That’s called being agender’ and another portion of people are going ‘this is how the majority of cis ppl feel and it’s NOT agender’ and personally I feel like both of them are missing the point here. Yes a lot of people identify as agender because of this feeling. Yes a lot of people with this same feeling still identify as cis. These are not mutually exclusive experiences and it doesn’t mean the agender people are secretly cis or the cis people are secretly agender. It just means they have very similar experiences of gender that they choose to conceptualize and label differently, and neither of them are mistaken or wrong to do so.

Duo I made up 👉😎👉
Aka I started this as a warm up and it turned into a whole render, I LOVE SNOOPY AND GUSTAVE!
If you aren't playing Wisher, Theurgist, Fatalist, then you have no legitimate need for the rules of Wisher, Theurgist, Fatalist (WTF 45)
But character generation is done before one begins play (WTF 62)
And the character generation procedures for an RPG are commonly understood as part of the game rules [citation needed]
These three premises add up to a contradiction, where the only two escapes are by asserting that WTF's character creation procedures are not, in fact, rules of WTF but instead something else, perhaps setting elements or norms of play culture, or by coming to the conclusion that it is not possible to legitimately create a WTF character.
a more pressing question is whether you were playing WTF when you wrote this post and if not what the heck you thought you were doing using its rules
That's unknowable without a Wisher involved.
Also making this post was not needful. So legitimate or not, I didn't have need of the WTF rules because I didn't need to make the post.
I'm also not entirely convinced that examining the structure of something qualifies as using it.
I'm also not entirely convinced that examining the structure of something qualifies as using it.
More seriously, to address the original claim, legitimacy does not derive from the text of a roleplaying game but rather from the will of the people. It cannot derive from text because nobody can know what a text actually says.

the state does not need to assign you a sex, nor does it need to keep inalterable record of it btw
a very interesting terf objection to this one boils down to "but how would the state know who to protect?" because it speaks to the incredible privilege of being in a class the state actually ever remotely wants to protect. most oppressed groups do not want the state to have a registry of them, lol
the patriarchy has done a great job convincing white cisgender women that it's in their best interests to maintain it
Researchers can do studies that track disparate impacts across genders just fine without the government storing your assigned sex as part of your legal identity. They do this with race and orientation and disability and so on just fine.
A census can understand population level trends just fine without storing your assigned sex as part of your legal identity. They can ask for this information in the census. The census tracking population level data is not the same as your assigned sex being permanently part of your legal identity. (At least, the way my country does a census.)
Your doctor can know your anatomy by you communicating it to them if/when it is relevant. There is never a time when they might need to know something that could only be conveyed by your assigned sex being officially relayed to them via government documentation. You can just use your words. The same way you tell your doctor any other part of your medical history.
People respond to "the government doesn't need to store your assigned sex as part of your legal identity" as if they are hearing "no one should ever acknowledge gender or sex at all" but that's not what's being said.
Your birth certificate conveys important legal information about you. Your name, as a designation. Your parents, as they have a legal obligation to you. Your place of birth, as that place has a legal obligation to you. Date and time of birth, since age is important for application of some laws.
And sex. That's on there too. But what is the legal relevance? What laws is the government going to apply to you differently based on what sex is on your birth certificate? I can only think of one thing my government really uses that for, and that is to determine who has to sign up for the draft. And guess what, fuck that shit anyway. The government also used to use this to decide who is allowed to marry who. They don't do that anymore. For now.
There is literally no reason my assigned sex needs to be part of my legal identity. My government is not using that for anything (important). It doesn't matter. If the gender markers on everyone's IDs vanished tomorrow nothing (except maybe the draft) would be significantly negatively affected. Data collection for research could continue as usual since researchers usually have people self report these characteristics rather than checking their government IDs. My doctors would still know which organs I have and if they forgot, I could tell them. I don't want anything to be part of my legal identity that doesn't have to be.

pro-tip: don't ever use the sentence "thousands of years" in your worldbuilding unless you really know what a thousand years is like
Quick cheat sheet:
The middle ages were one thousand years ago
I don't know if I need you to tell you this but Jesus was alive 2 thousand years ago during the Roman Empire
3 thousand years ago the Mediterranean and Middle East were recovering from the bronze age collapse. None of the philosophers of Western philosophy (or Eastern for that matter) were born yet
Earliest writing dates roughly to 5 thousand years ago.
Agriculture started roughly 10 thousand years ago
So yes, you can write whatever you like but if you're telling me that an individual dynasty has been ruling since 8000 years ago (HOLA JORGE) I have to wonder if they even had writing back then
This is the basis of the elf problem, something that's always bothered me. Your elves routinely live to 1000? Are you sure? Did you think about what an unnaturally long life would actually entail, because it's a lot of work to write and creates a natural pitfall in worldbuilding design.
You need to lock in and give the world, and race, and character, a thousand years of pretty detailed history if you want to sell me your old fuckin elves. Instead, writers often find the "elves live really slowly and are fascinated with human advancements" worldbuilding trope. That's Tolkien bullshit. That's BACKWARDS. Intelligence is only one axis of species advancement. The other is lifespan. Too short, and even a species far smarter- and just as physically capable- is heavily stunted. There's not enough time in a single generation to make notable discoveries if the lifespan is too short, because a majority of advancement lies in not the discovery itself, but that discovery being taught. This is a double whammy because intelligent brains take longer to grow, and more energy to sustain. Without a sufficiently long lifespan that "brain growth time" is all the more exacerbated.
Remember that humans as a race have spent a vast majority of our time on Earth in the prehistoric. pre written history. Only the last ~10,000 years have contained an semblance of organization, and if you want to only consider modern human biology, the oldest known remains are still over 300,000 years old. Only, at best, have the last 0.033% of our years here been in a developing society. The learning curve is that brutal. As a longer living species of comparable intelligence, elven society would expeditiously outpace humans; and given how quickly technology does develop once that learning curve is passed, they would not be recognizable to humans as peers unless the human race is explained to be far older than the elves as a means to offset this inevitable issue.
If you want your elves to be pointy-eared-never-sleep-nimble-nature-loving-archer versions of humans, spare yourself. Don't let them live to be one thousand.

very telling that even if you’re not allowed to view content related to self harm/suicide/eating disorders due to not giving up your ID on the uk internet you will still be shown relentless ads for weight loss drugs and fad diets showing unrealistic/AI generated bodies and unhealthy methods and time frames for weight loss that can only be achieved by starvation. oh and also so so many gambling ads. relentless ads for gacha and gambling services. almost like it’s not actually about protecting kids at all or something
this just in! nuance has become oversexualized.
its more complicated than that.
