It is absolutely canon that VC vampires have sex. The blood drinking/sharing IS literally the sex and we are told that repeatedly. I don't find that there's anything to debate here. While I have mixed feelings about how Anne Rice implemented the lack of human sex between vampires, I also find it very compelling to see this non-traditional sexual dynamic represented and to have it portrayed as both equal and special in regards to human sex. Vampires experience lust and desire and sexual intimacy with each other, just in a way that's completely uncoupled from the act of procreation or the motions of it—one that exists purely for bonding and pleasure. When it's misused, it has the same emotional ramifications of any other sexual assault. It is not less real, only different and with different organs and types of touch.

I didn't start doing this intentionally (someone pointed it out later), but even when I've written fics where VC vampires are having human sex, I have them engaging in sex acts besides traditional intercourse more often than not. There's nothing at all wrong with PIA/PIV and I've definitely written that too, but I think there's a subconscious attraction to the fact that VC vampires are already removed from strict human sexual roles by nature. Writing them this way comes naturally not just because of my own sexual experience, but also because the idea of blood sharing as the ultimate culmination of sex for vampires removes the focus and urgency for an act of human penetration for the audience as well.
