Overall Evaluation for Final Major Project
Overall I’m quite happy and satisfied with how this project turned out. Throughout this project, I have experienced so many ups and downs and so many things turned out completely different to the way I actually wanted them to, but turned out way much better than what I thought. knowing this, I now know sometimes the unexpected and the unplanned turn out much better than sticking to a plan.
When FMP was introduced, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I think that was probably the hardest part of this project, thinking of something that I can stick for 10 weeks without wanting to change my mind or just get bored of the project. So instead of looking at projects, I started looking at different skills and software’s I would want to learn or try out.
When presenting the ideas, the feedback I got wasn’t really satisfying either, in which I started adapting my ideas to make sure they didn’t really relate to previous work done before, not knowing that this was a much better option for me both in looking at creative skills and for actually creating the final outcome as it was one that had many opportunities to be creative and learn new things and fix established mistakes I made in the past.
When researching in to my project, I felt much happy being pushed in a different direction with my idea but still allowing me to incorporate my original ideas I found so many aspect within each area that made me think of new ideas and how I could carry on taking My clothing brand further and make it unique and different from what’s already on the market.
Making the clothing for my FMP has been a roller coaster ride and completely hectic experience, but all turned out better than expected in the end. Although the fabric was wrong, I still manged to use it and get My Final Outcomes together. From cutting, to colouring and then stitching in each area there were times I just had enough because if the amounts of issues arising and level of frustration increasing. The first foremost problem was actually the whole shirt that I created which when sewing started to tear and wasn’t useable at the end of it, which was really annoying because it had taken me a long period of time to get the colour going diagonally up the way I wanted it to. Scrapping that idea and with the amount of time I had remaining, I thought it would be in the best interest of me to make something a bit more simpler so I could still have a final outcome for my Project. When creating these scarfs I had no design in mind but my only hoped was they turn out good enough to try fit in to my brand and what I wanted it to display according to its aesthetic. Looking at previous research, I then was able to make a quick plan of what I wanted to do and a create a mini image in my head of how I wanted it to turn out in the end.
When creating the scarfs, I was really pleased with how they came out and had a much better experience than before. But it wasn’t over for the shirts, with the fabric I had remaining, I needed to try again and see what the problem was the first time and why it didn’t work because it was still bugging me on why it didn’t turn out right. Trying again but with a bit more free mind and more time, I was able to make a shirt that I wanted to. Although it was not a designed one like I hoped for the first one, the fact that I managed to make a simple one was all that mattered to me in the end and was also pleased with the way that turned out as well. Although I mixed up the colouring for the shirt and got it back to front, it worked out better because of the fact with the colour on the back the calligraphy wouldn’t be seen as well as it was seen on the front.
I am pleased that I have utilised each aspect and individual project of this course to be able to express me through my thoughts and designs and to showcase the work through unique products which I would not have been able to do elsewhere. I believe my culture and background have played a leading role in my designs, and I am proud that I have been able to demonstrate these in my products and designs. Within I have also been able to gain much more insight into so many new softwares and gain and adapt on skills I knew for previous softwares I learnt. All this has enabled me to increase the standards that I creat my work in the future and use and adapt these skills learnt to make to outcome better.

Creating GIFS
Using the burst shots that I took using the blower I added them images in to EZGifs to create this gif.
Posters Printed
I’m actually quite happy with how these turned out. My only concern was why they looked pixelated even though when sizing the art boards on Adobe Illustrator I made sure they were A2, the size of my posters, but that was only when you look at them really up close so it wasn’t really too much of an issue in the end.
Another thing was that the image of the scarfs looked really dark in the poster compared to the laptop so that was also one thing I had looking like an issue, but when I printed my publication Front cover, it was the same as I used the same image, so I thought it was probably because of the laser printer but still looked better as it made the scarfs colours stand out even more.
Binding my publication
These are a selection of my final pages printed to be bonded together. Overall, I am very pleased with the way my magazine has turned out. While making the magazine, I did reduce some pages as I thought they didn’t fit in once I started adding the images in taken of the Shirts and wanted to keep it small as usually look books are meant to be quick with little writing. Because of how little pages I had when folding over my cover, the pages didn’t really stick out a lot for me to have to trim them and to be honest I didn’t want to ruin the pages printed knowing my trining skills. :)
The one mistake I made that turned out to look good is on the final Arabic double page spread, I think the Arabic on both sides didn’t line up properly, having the pages stick out on each side, but even when I moved them down it still looked good.
Test prints
My test prints were to experiment with paper. For my mini look book, I wanted to use glossy paper. But when researching to buy the paper all the paper was for Ink jet printers and couldn’t find any near me for laser printer. When inquiring in the library if they even print on glossy paper. He told me that because laser printers use powdered ink, once printed the glossy parts would only remain on the parts the image hadn’t been printed onto, which wasn’t helpful as I wanted the opposite to. He also told me the paper they use in the library has a shine to it when printed onto so it’s recommended to use that paper as it would give more of a shine than glossy. Using his advice, I printed the inside pages on the paper already provided in the printer and printed the cover on thicker card.

Final Pages Made for Publication
Edits/ Mind Changes on Publication
For My Publication I wanted it to look different to others as my work was ‘ALAG’ or different from others so I also wanted the sizing of my publication to be ‘ALAG’ as well. So that’s why I chosen to make my mini Publication square as they are regularly the A4 or A3 size.
But after looking at the poster I made. I thought it would be a good idea to use them for the front and back cover for the mini publication to have one running theme going through out. Because the Poster were made to cater A sizes I didn’t want to shrink the proportions to try and fit it on square. Even the photos were taken to cater A sizes so it was sort of impossible to get it on square sizes so I changed my size of the Publication to Then become an A size instead.
