Arty-fact: "Being present and observant opens you up to so much inspiration, especially when you travel. Airports are these industrial spaces where you spend so much time waiting. There’s such a sterility to them - the lines, the structures, the lighting, all so basic. But the interactions between people are fascinating. No one feels totally comfortable. There’s this shared lack of control, a bit of impatience, and confusion on everyone’s faces. So many strangers coming together, crammed into tiny spaces with minimal communication. Looking back, it’s funny how much that’s influenced our work without us even realising it. That feeling of being lost is such a major theme.” ~ Jada + David

Arty-Fact: "My colour choices are based on one very professional rule: Would I eat this color combination? I think the reason I love bold colour so much is because my brain still judges palettes the same way a 9 year old would. If it looks like candy, juice, cereal, popsicles, or fruit snacks… I’m into it. We used paint swatches to inspire these colourful photography sets and conceptual photoshoots. Everything is better in colour.” ~ Jada

Arty-Fact: "Every photoshoot we create ends with the same impossible question: Which photo is THE photo? Out of nearly 1,000 photos… which one deserves to become art? This set took days to build. We designed and painted an entire surreal plywood submarine set and hauled it to Nashville for the conceptual portrait shoot. We ended up with over 1,000 photos to choose from but knew we’d only end up choosing one to print, frame, and show as art.” ~ Jada + David

Arty-Fact: "Before any creative shoot, I like to make up a loose storyline about my vision for the shoot. I share this with the model before we begin shooting. I touch on the emotions I want to evoke and the different things I will ask them to do during the shoot. It makes the model feel more like they are playing a character than being themselves, which usually leads to more authentic images.” ~ Jada
