Two hudcon events that really compel me are - the photo connor posted of hudson on their hike through the forest in Canada together, where Hudson's not even facing the camera, standing at a distance looking away photographing trees, and the song Connor chose to go with it was something like "My heart goes boom"?
It drives me crazy. The "boyfriend soft launch" vibes are off the charts. Like "here's my man taking photos because he's an artist, we're in a beautiful forest just enjoying nature together, no facades no expectations, I've always dreamed of something like this but never thought I would get to have it because it seemed too romcom perfect I'm so in love with him"
The other one was an early interview they did where the interviewer asked them about which of them was the more romantic one, and they agreed Hudson was more bold and "shoot from the hip" just confess your feelings and take your shot,
While Connor said he was more oblivious and just didn't recognise or let himself believe people had feelings for him, and Hudson jokingly(?) exasperatedly(!?!) was like, yeah they'd be like "I love you" and Connor still would be like "um do they like me maybe?" but never do anything about it 😭 uhhhhh
I just couldn't help picturing exactly that, mr hudson "I've fallen in love with him" "i fell in love with connor as a person" Williams, and Connor just sitting there like "haha Hudson's so sweet but there's NO WAY he likes me back, not like THAT", until Hudson maybe had to grab Connor's face in his two big gentle warm hands and look him right in the eye and say "this is not a joke, it's not platonic, connor i am IN LOVE with you," and then just plants one on him right as connor starts to stutter in confusion, "wait do you mean you LIKE-???" 😍
Ok ok this are two very separate moments that have kept me on my toes but still they are the specific reasons why I keep going back to Nov/dec as their start and not September.
After they finished their mating dance in June, I’m not sure how often they saw each other but they must have been in communication the entire time to decide that Sept was a good time to meet up and they took full advantage of that.
I like that Connor’s music choices are things we can analyse because it seems to me that he does put thought into his songs, unlike Hudson who puts his feelings into his photos. The my heart goes bang was a choice and I do believe that it is Connor expressing his feelings during that time. Their pictures and videos at the time was fully about their reunion and their growing bond, enough to tattoo each other but I don’t believe that Connor or Hudson would have said anything to jeopardise what they have at that time. They haven’t seen each other in months, I think their focus was to take advantage of the few days they were together. I can see both of them being extremely cautious about this cause if the other says no, then it’s all over and I believe these two calculate risk seriously. The consequences of rejected affection is the loss of someone that important to them especially if they had only just met that year. And they still have the premiers to go.
From what I understood, they met more frequently between Sept and the premier but it was a throwaway line in an article I think Until premiers and promo. So chances are they met again on October and kept this up…. Plus online flirting too
So by Montreal, whatever they were doing, they had escalated that into full, this boy is mine without articulating it out loud, just body language and how they talk. It’s why that interview with Jacob and how transformative Hudson is where Hudson almost hyperventilated into a coma is so important… Imagine fr that your crush said in front of the world how amazing you are at your job?? The same job you both do? Nothing could have stopped me from doing down I swear, Hudson you are really the strongest soldier.
Which brings me to shoot your shot. I firmly believe that Hudson would have also been dropping hints with Connor but more one to one and flirting with him, teasing him and touching him more often. We know from the premiere that Hudson was always giving Connor the Connor smiles. Those smiles haven’t changed since they met. And ok the flip side, Connor want subtle either, the speaking in different languages and pushing up against Hudson physically just to see his reaction and looking into his eyes every five secs, Connor Storrie, you arent slick.
Which is why when that interview happened, and shoot your shot happened, you can see that Hudson reevaluate everything he knows and I bet that was when he did shoot his shot fr 😭 and the risk was rewarded, because
1) a few days later, the vanc couch cuddling pic dropped
2) Hudson came to LA and Connor was like THAT
3) Quinn interviews (omg)
Now tbh, inbetween all of this, there has been heavy life changes for both of them and their family/ friends and they are navigating that but one thing it hasn’t done is affected how they still interact and behave with each other till now
