Awful ask starters/memes that need to stop
“your character sees mine’s self harm wounds / scars!!” No. That is not fun. This is literally just an upgrade of staring at someone’s self harm scars in a store. This is using a real life experience for drama, and it’s gross.
“your character finds mine’s suicide note!!” Once again, no. This is taking a scenario in which somebody comes to a point where they feel the need to end their life - bUt only for one meme, only for sadness, only for the feelsies. You will lose my respect if you reblog, send, or make memes like this.
And, for the same reasons - “send xyz and my character will have an emotional breakdown/panic attack/meltdown in front of yours”. That is taking a literal emotional breakdown, of feeling like the world is crashing down, low moment for anybody but especially for mentally ill people - but only for a meme. I’m not saying you can’t write characters having a breakdown, just don’t treat that like meme fodder.
“your character saves mine from being raped!!” I can’t believe this. I can’t believe I’m following Pokemon blogs who reblog this crap. No, I can’t believe I used to be. I can’t believe you care about rape and sexual assault survivors so little.
“my character has been admitted to a mental institution!! send this symbol to visit them” or even worse, “my character has been admitted to an asylum”… This kind of meme seems to only exist for a “oh noes char #1 said something ~~crazy~~ and now they are sick… i will visit them and think they’re okay, but then instead of supporting them, i, char #2, will realize the Crazy Has Grown Back and they are Dirty… #feels..” It’s gross. It’s literally making an accessory out of the experience of hospitalization. And, on the second point: No one seems to know the difference between a hospital, a treatment center for when someone needs outside help, and an asylum, which is where mentally ill and autistic people were locked up against their will, abused, murdered, raped; and treated like zoo animals in the 1400s, where certain asylums literally let you pay to walk through.
I’m not the type of person to just tell people what to do because I don’t like it, okay? I’m saying these things need to stop because they’re of the few types of real life experiences that need to be respected in RP. I can’t really feel safe around people who support these kinds of things.
