“Why was I there?”

“And how long, exactly, will it take you to read it?” 

“Few days. But if we gotta write a paper, it’ll take a few days to take notes. ‘Nd then what if I need t’ reference?”

Diana looked in his direction, her teeth gritting as she spotted the book. Of bloody course. “By you allowing me to borrow it for ten minutes, please.” 

“But I was just about t’ read it.”

Are you deaf?

“No -- why d’ye need help?”

“Uh huh.”

“Where?”

“Just -- there.”

“Why is it whenever I come to the library someone has already taken the book I needed?” Diana sighed, looking mournfully up at the open space where the book she’d been after ought to have been. 

“How will you ever survive,” Ace replied, the book in question currently being flipped between his hands.
