The day had been long. Many miles walked, and countless interactions later, it was a pleasant yet draining experience as it had always been. Astrid locked her fingers in place with Reimi's in one fluid motion — like they had done hundreds of times. They continued to walk and walk under the star's soft gaze. The farther they went, the more disruption they felt. A scent of strong fermentation laced the wind they followed; along with the cheers and roars of many different sizes.
Their road led them to the local tavern they had heard many things about on their travels: The Drunken Owl. A place to eat, drink, and forget life away for just a night — that's what was always on the table. Though Reimi insisted on going home, practically pleading,
Because she hated crowded spaces (also social interaction) and
She was dead tired and could hardly move any longer
Astrid though, her eyes sparkled at the big sign of that plump owl. It was time to let loose baby.
Needless to say, Reimi couldn't make Astrid change her mind, and after just one drink inside; it was wraps for Reimi's hopes of a peaceful night. Sadly, she couldn't indulge in anything, after all someone had to be sober enough to get them home. Luckily she wasn't the biggest fan of alcohol anyway.
After many hours, lots of trips, and shouts later, Reimi managed to carry Astrid back home (with the assistance of magic) and before anything else — she tossed her onto the bed while Astrid was mid-sentence.
“[...]Reiii… you’re the princess and I’m your-“ she hiccuped
Reimi sighed in content, a rush of butterflies in her stomach, as her finger swept across Astrid's bangs. “Alright then, my hero, let’s get you to bed then okay?”
Astrid crawled over and gripped onto Reimi’s waist, nearly slipping off the bed. “N-no I don’t wanna."
“Shhh... we have a long day tomorrow, okay? Be a good girl now, for me?"
“Is alright~ we- we can stay here an extra day, and cuddle and stuff”
Reimi sat against the bed, tilting her head upwards to a golden smile.
“You know we can't do that, so please get some rest. Goodnight darling-“
Reimi blinked, Astrid was gone.
She appeared in her lap. “Don’t leave m-me alone”
Reimi pecked her forehead. “Never ever.”
“Uh huh..? And I love you too.”
“Rei I think I’m really sad” Astrid whined.
Tears start to stain the course fabric of Reimi's pants. “I love you so much, but I’m so embarrassed to confess my feelings to you…”
Reimi caressed Astrid's cheek. “My poor baby~”
“There there, you’ll be fine sunshine.”
