If you don't feel like reading something weighty, I suggest you turn back now, I won't be offended:

I'm going to be writing a book of poetry over the next year, and sharing bits of it online.  I make no promises as to if and when it will be released to the public.  It contains a lot that I feel extremely uncomfortable showing the world, even those that think they truly know all of me.  But that is exactly what is driving me to show it to people.  I have a great desire to become more honest.  And I fully recognize the possibility that this honesty has the potential to offend a lot of people, and possibly negatively impact some people's opinions of me.  

I ask that if you have something negative to say about what I post that you message me, and don't post it in public.  This poetry is an art form, as well as an expression and so is completely subjective.   Therefore if you want to tell me something I write is "wrong", I will probably ignore you.  But if you care to tell me how something effected you, I am happy to listen.

For those that enjoy poetry as an art form, I hope that what I post over the next year can serve in opening your mind to just another individual who is trying to make sense of life.  I have no disillusions about trying to inspire people, but pursue this from a place of wanting to find rest for my soul, and to wear the same face to everyone.

I suggest you take this purely for what I've said it is, and don't read into it or freak out in any way.  I hope you find the poetry I write enlightening (if not to life in general, at least to my character), and pray that you'll receive it with grace and open mindedness.

So it is with humans

we are all compositions.

the lump sum of everyone we’ve ever known.

ragdolls sewn of threads we’ve kept

from every person we’ve ever met—

are we the pencil sketch underneath the caked

paint on a canvas, or only the freshest brush stroke?

 I found that in fact,

we can never quite get to our origin

we can never quite see ourselves, unaccented.

we see only colors, reflections, suggestions

and perhaps, like a painting,

we are only a suggestion, a reflection

of the layers of people and experience

by which we see ourselves.

 it is at once a disappointment

Tourist

I'd be getting dizzy, stepping out of a taxi.

take a photo, of a busy street,

that's vacant of regrets.
