the way ovw fans just completely assassinate cole cassidy’s character by assuming he’d be chill with / romantically interested in h*nzo after YEARSSS of working alongside and helping genji cope with the most traumatic phase of his life ???literally caused by h*nzo ?????? it makes me so irrationally angry like i know it’s fiction and ppl r just having fun but like ur assassinating my boys !!!!!!!
Okay rant time cause this way of thinking I see is getting on my nerves--

I feel like spuriken shippers rlly don't understand Cass's character at all-- I love the ship too, but a lot of y'all rlly just don't genuinely get these characters-- especially Cass-- and it's starting to bug me how this way of thinking, is STILL prevelant in present day--
First off, Cass isn't some defensive savior white night for his friend genji-- as we see in New Blood comic issue 3, Cass has shown he believes in second chances, he believes in redemption and that people can change, that is his belief system, that's his whole thing, redemption-- just like Hanzo.
And just like Hanzo, He was no better than him, he was a murderer too, genji as well-- they were all bad people, it'd be hypocritical of Cass to judge Hanzo so harshly when he's fully aware he was just as dirty.
He wouldn't be a dick to Hanzo, especially not for genjis sake-- at most he'd wanna keep an eye on Hanzo as a precaution, but more of for the saftey of others, not just for genji-- while yes it's likely he would have underlying feelings if he even had told him anything so private and personal, it still wouldn't be so harsh or get in the way of his morals.
Second, to act as if genji and Cass were so close that he helped him cope is just a headcanon/fan theory, while it is likey, all we know is that they are friends-- Angela was more close with genji then any of the other characters, as we see in the voice interactions, as well as seeing he and Angela still talked even after he left.
Speaking of which, if Cassidy was a dick to Hanzo, and didn't try to give him a chance, it'd be shitty and disrespectful on his part, genji would not appreciate his friend not respecting his wishes, or respecting the fact he FORGIVES and LOVES his brother. It'd sour their friendship if Cassidy acted like that-- Cassidy is not a savior for genji-- yes he cares for his friend, but he is not gonna disrespect his friends wishes, he'd understand him and try and understand his views, and if genji shared what Hanzo had done, he'd also share his new outlook with Cass on how the clan treated BOTH of them, ESPECIALLY Hanzo, and how he was FORCED to do such a thing, and understood it was not out of cold blood or malice, it was out of fear, stress and internal torment-- which is something people fail to understand about hanzos character.

In short, other people are not mischaracterizing anyone, it is y'all doing so-- I don't wanna sound mean or start anything but this is genuinely annoying and I thought I'd give my two cents about it.
Stop mischaracterizing them, stop mischaracterizing Cass, stop mischaracterizing Hanzo, stop mischaracterizing Genji-- they are not as spiteful, immature or immoral as you make any of them out to be.
(side note, I understand that yeehan stans also like to do the thing where Cassidy doesn't like Hanzo at first, or is a bit of an ass, but majority accept that is unlikely, but to those who do-- shut, we can have an enemies to lovers thing without saying that it follows how the characters would actually behave)
