here's a (hopefully comprehensive) rant about how i view chiyaka!
I ADORE chiyaka's dynamic sm. I love the idea of two powerfully titled people just. losing their status whenever they're together. as if they're just normal people, absolutely lovestruck by one another... When they're together, ayaka isn't the shirasagi himegimi of the kamisato clan, childe isn't the eleventh harbinger tartaglia, they're just. two kids in love.
The idea that love is supposed to be a freeing place where you can just. exist. happily.
The people of Inazuma happily gossip about the young harbinger and ms Kamisato, it's a nice distraction from the previous turmoil of the vision hunt decree and the war between the shogunate and watatsumi.
The two often fall under scrutiny from the public, and the stares Childe receives on his afternoon strolls to komore teahouse don't go unnoticed. He can feel their eyes burning into the back of his head, he can hear their whispers,
but he doesn't care. Neither of them do. they're so unapologetically in love in fact, they rather the Raiden Shogun herself strike them down with the Musou no Hitotachi than renounce their relationship.
The majority of this rarepair relies on fanon, unfortunately, since i dont believe they've had a single canon interaction 😭
but its fine since im deranged, heres a list of my Chiyaka Headcanons!
- Ayaka is pan and uses she/they!
- similarly, Childe is bi & is cis but doesn't care what prns you use for him!
- chiyaka and thomato go on double dates to all the restaurants around town :3
- ayato is ALWAYS picking on ayaka for falling for a fatuus, but deep down he admires her bravery for sticking by his side.
- ayato and childe dont always get along but when they do they typically end up sparring or dining together.
- childe LOVES to cook for ayaka, like. adores it. thoma is constantly complaining about him being in the kitchen when he comes to visit
- chiyaka spar often, childe used to go easy on her, but after learning of ayaka's true strength, they've had countless matches end in a draw.
- the one time ayaka has seen childe in his foul legacy form, she wasn't scared. in fact, i think she fell for him even harder.
um anyways i could keep going but it's 4:20 so you know what that means!
i would like to begin this with a somewhat shameless self promo of my first and currently only chiyaka fic which you can read right here on tumblr or here on ao3 which actually does put into play some of the headcanons you've listed, such as doing away with their titles and roles when they're together, being just the two young adults they never had the chance to be, and people gossiping about them behind their backs, among others, of course.
i also had the pleasure of elaborating on chiyaka with another chiyaka shipper i've found on this site, @/lovelynakahara, in this post here, but i'll add some new headcanons and brainrot i've had with my friend under the cut.
you are correct in that they have never had a single canon interaction, however with ayaka's perceptiveness and her social network, do you really think she didn't know about a fatui harbinger roaming about on narukami island during the onmyoudou chamber event? the only things preventing her from being there herself is kujou sara and her own duties, but maybe in another world, she might have snuck into that domain to investigate for herself. this is actually one of the ways ayaka meets childe in one of the aus i've brainrotted with my friend, but by no means the only way.
we also know that there was fatui interference in inazuma long before the civil war started, and in his character trailer, it's implied that childe was coming from inazuma to liyue before he wrote his letter to tonia. he could have possibly met the shirasagi himegimi then, and missed a chance for a once-in-a-lifetime love, or...
he could get involved in the inazuma civil war! trying to stir a little more chaos in an already politically unstable landscape, only for one shirasagi himegimi turned part-time vigilante to encounter him and rope him into her plans for ending the civil war. while kamisato ayaka, face of the kamisato clan and yashiro commission, might not be able to do much about the war on her own, no one is expecting tokumeika, the anonymous flower, from rising up to the seemingly impossible task of facing the almighty shogun and ending this war once and for all. even if childe might not know who this flower is, at least she looks hot in that disguise of hers, and maybe, just maybe, he's starting to fall for that pure heart of hers.
but who said that they'd have to meet up in a canon setting? what if they both fell into the abyss, 14 year old ajax running away from home, 14 year old ayaka still reeling from the loss of her parents, and end up finding each other in a place where no stars may shine? the abyss will break them and put them back together in a way that they'll always depend on and always love each other, but that means splitting up when they fall out of the abyss is a fate worse than death. when ajax hears of a fatui harbinger who sounds exactly like his ayaka, he doesn't hesitate to leave the life he built up in inazuma behind to return to his beloved(?)'s side. they will never feel complete without the other, thanks to the abyss.
i have a whole bunch of other aus (10+ and counting) that require a bit more elaboration than what i've given for these aus, so their first encounter really changes depending on the au! anyways, i'll give you a few smaller and lighter headcanons to finish up this post since you offered some of your own:
in many aus, chiyaka actually have to get thomato together, either because ayato is too dense to realize he's in love, or the two idiots are mutually pining.
ayato's shovel talk for childe is always an understatement, but these two men don't need any more than that to understand the sentiment. childe better treat ayaka right, or else ayato is willing to go as far as fistfighting a god.
childe loves cooking for ayaka, but it hits harder for him for her to cook for him. even the smallest serving of ayaka's special sakura mochi goes a long way for him. childe and thoma also exchange cooking tips and recipes, although childe is no longer allowed to drink while cooking.
childe and ayaka don't spar until well into their relationship, when they both understand each other to be a powerful fighter in their own right. in fact, both of them can tell at first glance that the other is a trained warrior, although ayaka will always insist that she's nowhere near as skilled as childe (childe begs to differ)
childe is afraid of showing ayaka his foul legacy form because he's afraid that it will push the one good thing in his life (ayaka) away.
childe always, always, always wonders what he did to deserve someone as good to him, good for him as ayaka. he doesn't think he deserves someone as gentle and kind as she is, not after everything he's done to survive and everything he's done as the tsaritsa's vanguard. every time she insists that she wants him, he's always surprised.
the way ayaka's love towards him feels is just happiness and joy from being with him, thinking about him, being able to spend time with him. he is an escape from her life as a public official, but he is also her lover and her safe space and someone who really makes her think of home. she's truly glad to have met him, and she wishes that they can meet in every lifetime so that she may have the honor of loving him and he will have the privilege of being loved by her.
fun fact: i wasn't too sold on chiyaka when i first tried coming up with ayaka ships. it's only because of this giant fic i'm writing with my friend where childe can't distinguish between platonic and romantic gestures and words that i thought, "hey, this is pretty neat". it's not exactly chiyaka, per say, but i think the relationship is ambiguous enough that it could be taken any way.
