Cory Booker has been talking in the senate for over 20 hours now
He’s not filibustering. He’s protesting the current administration.
For those of you from outside the US or those of you who didn’t pay attention in government class, in the US senate there’s really no limit to the amount of time a senator can speak. So sometimes if they don’t want a bill to pass they just. Don’t stop talking. To hopefully get past the deadline to vote on a bill. This is called filibustering.
Senator Cory Booker isn’t doing that. He’s disrupting “the normal business of the United States Senate for as long as I am physically able”. Just in protest. This doesn’t usually happen.
He’s less than 20 minutes away from breaking the record of the longest speech given on the senate floor

For those of you wondering what he’s been talking about this whole time, his staff wrote down a bunch of stuff for him to read like stories from people across the political spectrum opposed to what the administration is doing. He’s also been telling personal anecdotes about meeting important civil rights leaders and other democratic senators have been pausing him for “questions” but the questions have been as long as a small speech and have both served the purpose of giving him a second to sit down and updating him on the news that he’s been missing while he’s been talking.
He has yielded the floor at 25 hrs and 4 mins. His eyes are so wide they look like they’re going to bug out of his skull so I don’t blame him for stopping. He said to go out and get in some good trouble.
Addition for those unaware: Cory Booker is black. Strom Thurmond set the previous record about 70 years ago in protest of civil rights. Booker spent much of the time I was watching talking about the importance of working together for the people and the idea that it's not "left versus right but right versus wrong."

watched the residence on netflix and i was so convinced for a while that the murderer was the president or his husband that when we got to the whodunit i was actually surprised by the who and how was a really fantastic mini series with excellent camera work and writing i would absolutely watch four more seasons of detective cupp solving crazy seemingly impossible crimes

Can we appreciate Charlie's acting? That howl of pain and grief when he heard Foggy's heart stop was so fucking phenomenal
So much happened right off the bat that needs days to digest whew...
The only thing truly constant no matter what and what we can take solace in is that Charlie Cox is still hot as ever and a fantastic actor
Okay I slept on it and read some other people’s analysis on the first episodes and have come to a more stable conclusion about the show so far: (spoilers below)
Hey remember when I posted right before it started that I don’t deal with change well?! Surprise that was probably a major reason for my negativity last night!
I still have some opinions about Matt leaving Hell’s Kitchen and the show choosing to jump an entire year but I don’t think it was as much of a disappointment as I was originally feeling.
Listen there needed to be a reason to get Matt into a very unstable headspace where he could fight Fisk again as a political figure and a lawyer instead of their past. But I don’t see how killing Foggy and sending Karen away was a good move on the writing end. I get that you saw so much dislike for them and brought them back after so much backlash so there needed to be some way to adjust the story for it. But I definitely felt like something was missing in the second episode.
I don’t have much hope for Foggy. I am praying to Matt’s God that they pull a comic verse witsec plot but seeing his eyes open and heartbeat stopping felt a little too definite for me to have a lot of hope.
The second fight absolutely hit on the parts that I hated about the first one. I saw some horrible CGI and was not a fan of the first fight but the second one really brought back those daredevil feels.
I really like the new characters and I can see Matt holding himself back from them more. But it also does feel like they added these characters because they couldn’t have the originals.
Okay the “Savant” comment was something that pissed me off and I definitely was upset that that was not screened out. But I think they’ve been working Matt’s blindness into the story well (very interested in the punisher tattoo that he couldn’t see) and I think they’ve shown his senses in a new and interesting way.
This is very convoluted but it’s more me processing my feelings so if you stayed this long sorry! I hated feeling like a shitty fan who complains about anything new (I’m in the SW fandom so I understand how annoying it is) so I needed to reveal my new opinions somehow.

With all of my little problems with this new series none of them matter when you get the chance to see an actor like Charlie do what they do best. You don’t see a superhero hit their rock bottom more than Matt Murdock on screen. This is true devastation and pain that you don’t see with most sobbing scenes. I was making the same fucking faces and sobbing right alongside him because damn he’s just so good.
It’s amazing how they managed to take something I was so excited for and just ruin all my enthusiasm.
FUCK.
I’m having a LOT of anxiety about this show and I know it’s going to be different but idk if my little autistic brain is ready for different!
I HATE new content of my favorites because it involves change (something I struggle a lot with)
But I’m also SO excited to have this character back and for the joy it’s going to bring me
Okay decided for my mental health that I will not be watching the second ep tonight. Instead I will be reading as many MattFoggy fics as I can get my hands on to feel something again.
