In the eighth episode of "Girls on the Bus," Melissa Benoist's Sadie must travel to another state to obtain abortion pills.

"Sadie’s agony is not that “I have to do this.” It’s the, “How am I supposed to do it?” So that was my way in emotionally. Sadie was not emotionally distraught by the fact that she had made this choice and she knew it was right for her and her body. She was very certain and had a lot of clarity in that regard. But it was the fact that the circumstances were so out of her control and the rage was more what she was feeling she couldn’t easily find care for herself."

I recently finished 2006's Brothers & Sisters, and that family experiences nearly everything people can possibly experience, including cancer, a brother off to war, a huge fatal car accident, miscarriages, infertility struggles, adoption from foster care...and I don't know that they ever say the word abortion the whole time!

SYNOPSIS

California University student newspaper editor Susan has been nominated for a Collegiate Press Club Award. Her boyfriend/newspaper colleague Brandon believes she’s sure to win for last year’s notorious feature story about an anonymous young woman (“Nancy”) who had an abortion. The two discuss her odds as they walk into the newspaper office, where they find Susan’s ex-boyfriend/ex-editor Jonathan hanging out with all his former colleagues. Unbeknownst to Brandon, CU has invited Jonathan to the awards dinner since he’d served as editor when “Nancy’s Story” was published. Brandon assumes Jonathan is attending the dinner as Susan’s date and jealously stomps out of the office, even after Susan assures him there’s nothing going on between her and Jonathan.
