Illustration & inspiration

Putting up exhibition and it looks exactly like my plan. I tried different ways to put them up - dog clips but they didn't hang right and curled the images and didn't look right and I felt the foam board would go against the theme of photograph. I also made them glossy because I wanted them to look as much like the originals as possible I'm very happy with the result

Zines completed, and they took much less time than expected!! Now all I need to do is sell 'em

My final front and back cover designs!!!!! The front and back will be printed separately from the zine itself as I will be using thicker paper/card for these.  In other news - Paper samples never arrived (from printingcafe) but I ordered some from Artoz. They’re on 48 hr delivery so I can start printing soon.

A couple information pages for those who need them. I may invert them to go with the black and white themes of the zine

I accidently printed off this page and it looked like paint on paper (rather than ink) so I tried the "darkness" pages again but in paint and I do quite like how it came out. I will be using one of these pages but I dont know which one yet

A whole lot of nothing I dont think my camera has properly picked this up but the pages say "nothing" in white ink. This again links to the "empty space" themes I really like these but since nothing digital is able to pick them up and they don't print properly, I intend to hand paint each "nothing" page in the zine

I didn’t get many suggestions after I did my seminar other than to give out questionnaires to get peoples opinions and insights into others’ mental illnesses. I used this idea and gave out 15 questionnaires (not all came back) with what people associate with mental illnesses. I will be using these associations to come up with pages for my zine.

It was suggested that I continue to work with the themes of layering and not go into comics or humorous imagery for the zine. They suggested I work with my acetate scribbles and do some projections with it. I may do this if it’s relevant to the actual zine, but if it’s not I will leave it this time. I will work with layers for the rest of the project because it works with my themes of underlying mental illnesses that cannot be seen. 

First page planning, "it's all in your head" My favourite is the one with the "lighting" on it and I hope to use it in my zine

Bleaching photos, a result I wanted
