An Update, What?
Hi friends,
So I have been strangely absent, obviously. Unfortunately, my anxiety got the best of me for a bit, so I minimized my presence for a bit. BUT I AM BACK. Did you miss me (The Sherlock fandom understood that reference. Hi Marvel fans.)? Time for some good news! I am currently in the process of applying for the Summer Alumni program!!! I COULD BE THERE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!
Congratulations to all of the last minute acceptances and now that you all have checked in, you are in the world of Disney.
I hope you are all having a wonderful time down there. My ask box is always open, so hit me up with some questions. Fall applications are also now open, so to the new batch of applicants, HEYYYYYYYYYYYY. Kay. Bye.

Forever and a Day
So it's been a while since I blogged. Real life caught up and I'm currently engaged in a battle royale with economics. My submit and ask are always open, but you won't hear from me until around Christmas. With any luck, I will have defeated the ECON dragon and regain my princess crown.
ALMOST THERE!!!
There is officially less than two weeks until final acceptances! You guys can do this! For those of you waiting, you're not out until the 18th, so keep hoping! For those of you already in, CONGRATULATIONS and start your countdowns!
F,T, & PD,
Alyssa

My apologies for the random stuff you may have seen. My app likes to reblog onto this one, not my random blog.

Me :)
Life at the All-Star
So my first location was at All-Star Music in the Intermission Food Court. When I first got this, I literally started crying. In my interview, when asked about QSFB, I said it was my last choice (if there was no other place for me) and if I did it, I wanted a park. Instead I got the last possible place I would have ever wanted to work. It also didn't help that when I got to Casting, the fingerprint guy called it "the projects of Disney". Then I went to my resort orientation and found out I was mornings. I am not a morning person. People say that, but i have some nasty insomnia and don't fall asleep until 3. My training shifts were 5am to 1:30 pm. My bus came at 4:08 in the morning, which had me up at 3:15. As in my usual bedtime, 3:15 My first day of training was beyond overwhelming. My trainer was late, and we had to rush through all of opening the Grill shop. I had a massive anxiety attack in the middle of the lunch rush. Luckily, our training staff was super understanding and gave me a few minutes to sit down and relax. At ASMU, you have ten days of training, where you work in all the shops and the beverage area/dining room. The hours suck and the guests are not usually pleasant to you at all. It's pretty much a CP consensus that the worst job you can get is quick service at the all star. Between the sports groups, the Brazilian tour groups, the other international tour groups, and the schools, it's a hard job. Honestly, I wouldn't ever do it again. I barely got the minimum 30 hours (if I asked off a day, I only got 24 hours, instead of them reworking my schedule), and there's a reason we call the all star bus "the k for kill me now". However, it made me a better person. I learned that I can do whatever I put my mind to, and I was there that I finally beat my anxiety disorder and fought off an attack for the first time. I did work with some of the most amazing people, and I got to help bring magic to a place where a lot of CMs forget it exists. I was the only CP who was cash trained after only two months, and my managers knew I could be trusted to do a good job. There were days where I wanted to term. Where I would rather be scrubbing up vomit (and I'm emetophobic). There were days where I got home and cried myself to sleep because I had been cussed at and someone threw food at me. But there were also days where all of my CP coworkers got off together and we rode the bus home and had a mini party on the K. There were days where I had guests who just made me smile over silly things. There were days where we had dance parties (our rare magical moment) and I taught little kids how to do the Cupid Shuffle. And, even though I transferred and never got it, I had a guest write a letter about me, which never happens there. I guess the point of this is that no matter where you work, every place has its ups and downs. Sure, you may be at a place where there are more downs, but you just have to remember this: You will never find the magic if you stop looking for it. In F, T, and PD, Alyssa
What do you want to know?
So, I want to know what you guys what to know about my DCP or anything about the program in general! Send in a question or suggestion by adding /submit to the end of the url. This way I can focus on what you all are interested, not just what comes to mind when I open tumblr. :)
Haha, accidentally posted that from my other blog.

Patterson Court
Hey all!
I've decided to do a mini-series on all the apartment complexes. We're going to start with Patterson, because that's where I lived.
First of all, it's a fairly small complex, but it's the newest. The pool is super nice, with lots of chairs. The gym is full of newer equipment (that all works), but it is pretty tiny. My roommate had to do her lunges outside. There's a 24 hour computer lab, where you can print in the clubhouse. It has a bunch of classrooms that are used for the Disney classes, so it can be a plus to live where your class is located.
My first apartment was a three bedroom, and I had five roommates. The bedrooms are decent sized, with two beds, two nightstands, a dresser to share, and a walk in closet. The bathroom is attached and is pretty basic. You do get a vanity and sink outside the bathroom, so you can get ready while your roommate showers.
The living room is nice and the furniture isn't too uncomfortable. It has a little dining nook with a table and chairs. There was a small closet that we mostly used to hang coats and store boxes/board games.
The worst part was the kitchen. It was really tiny, and there was almost no counter space. We had to all share one fridge and a pantry, which was not fun. There was never enough space in either of them, and food often ended up in weird crannies inside the fridge.
All in all, I loved living in Patterson. Enough so, that when we extended, my roomie and I continued to live there. We moved into a one bedroom that was triple occupancy. We shared the bunk beds and the other girl took the single bed. It was actually really great! The bedroom was plenty big for all us, and there were no more fights over fridge space. I got lucky and had really great roommates, which definitely made the triple do-able. The best part was we cut the occupancy in half and saved money on rent every week. If you really like the people you're living with, a triple occupancy may be a good way to bond and save money.
That's my opinion of Patterson! I don't really have any pictures, but there are plenty of good ones online!

Main Entrance and Guest Passes
Your Main Entrance Pass (MEP) and Guest Passes are always full of questions, so here's the basics.
1. You get three Guest Pass cards/ticket things. They are all linked together, so when you use a day off of one, that day comes off all of the other ones too.
2. You get six days of guests (THERE ARE BLOCKOUT DATES, PLAN ACCORDINGLY), with up to three guests per day. Each guest needs to have their own card and you must enter before them in order for their card to work.
3. Blockout dates are days that your guest passes (and occassionally your own pass) are not accepted and tickets must be purchased. These are found on The Hub, which you get access to near the beginning of your program.
If you have other questions once you get there, a lot of them can be answered by looking on The Hub or calling the complimentary admission office (they are all super nice there!)

Quotes of the Day!
So, in case you haven't figured it out, I'll be posting a "Disney Quote of the Day", every day! Right now, they'll be inspirational quotes for those of you applying and waiting. If you have a favorite, feel free to submit it at abcafterdcp.tumblr.com/submit!

Remy-Ratatouille
The Role of PhotoPass: PhotoPass usually gets 30-40 scheduled hours a week. You can pick up other PhotoPass shifts in other locations as long as you have the proper training. For example: if you aren’t finished with training (which can last a few months) then you cannot trade/pick up shifts…
A really great overview of PhotoPass!

The Spooky House
This story, right here, is my favorite story to tell when I get asked about crazy Disney stuff happening on my program.
One night, I was up at Greeter (the nice CM who stands at the front of line that you usually bug with a crazy question? Yeah, that's called Greeter). It was pretty late, so not much was going on. I have a man walk up to me, so (as the job says) I greet him.
"Ahoy sailor! Welcome aboard!"
"Eh, please", he says.
"Yes sir, what can I help you with?"
"Where is spooky house?"
I didn't really understand what he was asking, so I asked him to repeat himself. He comes closer and yells "Spooky spooky house!"
Struggling to maintain a straight face, I give him directions to the Haunted Mansion. After I tell him how to get there, he wiggles his arms toward me, yells "spooky spooky" and does some weird moonwalk style thing before turning around to his family and walking away. Spooky Spooky House became an attraction wide joke, and never fails to put a smile on my face.
Weirdest. Question. Ever.
I'M GOING BACK
I'M SO EXCITED TO BE GOING BACK TO DISNEY WORLD FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE MY PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO EXCITED, I CAN BARELY CONTAIN MYSELF. HERE WE GO, THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS!!!!
