Bonaparte at Arcole, 1796, 1896 by M. Haider
"Napoleon arrived at the bridge at Arcole just as Augereauâs attempt to capture it had been beaten off. He ordered another attack, which stalled under heavy fire. Augereau then seized a flag and walked out fifteen paces in front of his skirmishers, saying, âGrenadiers, come and seek your colour.â At that point Napoleon, surrounded by his aides-de-camp and bodyguard, grasped another flag and led the charge himself, haranguing the troops about their heroism at Lodi. For all his statements to the Directory two days earlier about not exposing himself to danger, he certainly did at Arcole. Yet it failed â the men displayed âextraordinary cowardiceâ according to Sulkowski â and they didnât rush the body-strewn bridge, although his aide-de-camp Colonel Muiron and others were killed on it at Napoleonâs side." current obsession: tudor history of course, but also medieval/medieval fantasy.
currently working on: whew, i finished a 100k+ novel a while back, a tudor novel, and i've been editing and proofreading it. i'm also working on a series of short stories--one of them being inspired off of the hunch back of notre dame and the VVITCH. also drawing some original characters for a high fantasy novel im writing-or drafting.
last google search: byzantium fashion, specifically for women. and medieval headc overings.

Last song listened to: This. OK, technically not a song, I suppose, but it's the last thing I listened to which wasn't purely instrumental!
Favourite colour: A really deep red. Venous blood red.
Currently watching: Nothing! Too busy writing and reading (when health stuff allows), and I don't watch much TV anyway.
Currently reading: Still on The Farewell Symphony by Edmund White.
Current obsession: Whether I might be able to get back to playing tenor viol because I miss it terribly, hence all the violposting, and The Terror.
Currently working on: A Terror fanfic. First fanfic I'll have ever written in my life, I feel I deserve some fun as I've had a tough time recently. While that's being finished off, I've paused a short story which starts with the last recorded execution for sex (not involving violence) between men in France (Diot and Lenoir, Paris, 1750).
Last Google search: Current score in the England v. Japan friendly (at time of typing, Japan are leading 1-0).

currently working on: a 2000 word essay on the classical influences on saint-just's rhetoric, emotions, and relationships (draft 1 is done, yay! 2000 words is nothing i've had to cut so much out Imao), and the final edits to my epq/extended project qualification, which is a play about thermidor (but it's a modernised satire), plus a 70+ slide powerpoint with research, experiments, the writing process, all my justifications, etc... i think the powerpoint has about 28,000 words worth of text on it...? the play will be shared on here once the project is marked đ
