your dirty little secrets

your heart attacks

your unchecked facts

your who, what, why, where, when

fill me up, sugar, i’ll keep it all

from your next of kin

just call me your

darkest oasis

your casket of faces

your judas kiss

on a crucifix

i am a vault

of assorted sins

i am your priest

& your drunk whore

your safe & your junk drawer

your unwashed stash

of armageddon ash

pour it all right down on me

i’ll seal them up for eternity

Barely a whisper & never a prayer

These lights of porches since gone out

A mess of moths gone blind with doubt

We struggle on in leaden shoes

Cover up a plum-dark bruise

Creatures skitter in the night

Golden fields succumbed to blight

Something joyous here once bloomed

So beautiful & oh so doomed

All that's left now; thorns and weeds
