What i first wanted was for their designs to match their names more which is why poppy is red (although with pink undertones) and branch is brown. Since branch now has a human skintone (albeit the slightest bit ashy while not manic) I took the idea of him being a rainbow troll from the mobile game, which means his hair colour matches his emotions bc that seems like something they'd do to sell toys to kids. Yknow those dolls where you pour water over them and they change colour? They make those with branch

However while branch is grey he has no magic, so not only does his hair not change colours but he can't even use it as a 5th limb 💔 he makes do though. He thinks the rest of the trolls have it easy and it fuels his resentment (and also makes creeks treatment of him even more blatantly ableist). At the end of trolls 1 when he regains his colours he has to learn how to control his hair again and poppy is the only one who doesn't make fun of him (well. Maybe she teases him a LITTLE bit)

"Troll village" (pop village) is not actually located close to the other tribes and thats relevant to the story, since poppys story gets a complete rework. Instead of her being coronated at the end of trolls 1, she remains a princess and one of the sources of conflict in world tour is her trying to prove to her dad that she's worthy of inheriting the crown. By the end of the movie, she ends up forming her own pop village (not the name it'll have) closer to the other tribes, this one having a more modern aesthetic that feels more appropriate for "POP" trolls and not just "forest creatures". She gets a whole new look after this too

Poppy and creek were explicitly dating and branch was explicitly jealous of their relationship. Both poppy and creek had belly gems and they glowed when they kissed. It made branch sick

While not directly related to poppy and branch, hole n fun takes from the initial concepts of being scarier and cult like bc I think itd be fun if viva and clay are fucked up and twisted (while still being the dorks we know and love). That whole situation is a bigger conflict in the whole movie instead of just "viva is scared" (and clay has more focus as a character)
