Celestia definitely shouldn't have made that bet with Discord. It had seemed like such a sure thing, but the Lord of Chaos had a way of making sure things... much less sure. What a surprise.

Still, one day of his chaotic reign hadn't sounded so bad at the time, Celestia had thought. He'd mellowed since starting to make friends. Sure, it would be pretty messy, what with the cotton candy clouds and so on, but it would all go back to normal at sunset; Celestia had insisted on that. She should've been suspicious of how quickly he'd agreed.

Now... she was having trouble remembering how she'd gotten here. One moment she'd been raising the sun, the next she was snapped into this ridiculous jester costume, running through the countryside. She'd been running for quite some time, she assumed. She didn't recognize the landscape, or any of the ponies staring at her, mouths agape, as she ran past, giggling like a loon and flashing her chest. She didn't seem able to stop. Distantly, she realized she should, but her head was pounding and her thoughts felt fluffy and giggly. Everything just felt so absurd and ridiculous.

There was something nagging at her. Something about the time, something she needed to do. Something about the big silly sun, like the one that adorned her flanks. It felt important, but the laughter drowned it out. She'd get to it eventually. She had all April Fool's Day to get it done... however long that would end up lasting.
