My personal impression is that post-injury, especially around 2023 where he was trolled like crazy, he’s become afraid of online criticism. And that in itself is crazy to me because the only reason why he gets trolled is because of how good he actually is. Like it’s a sign of your stature and not the opposite.

(And pulling the Jota-card after a bad spell of results is silly and in bad taste and people calling him out for it is understandable)

A club captain has no obligation to be open or bold to the world, he needs to be open and bold with his teammates on the pitch and in the dressing room which Virgil 100% is. He’s literally been chosen captain in every single senior dressing room he’s stepped in. That’s not what I’m talking about at all.

Aside from the fact that being captain and having a wife and kids is normal and doesn’t mean you don’t have time to grab your phone, (he does and he’s online a LOT more than he lets on I think), whether or not it’s an admin or himself that comes up with that stuff, it’s still in his name and still lame as fuck and needs a lot of work.
