aziraphale has always, *always* known he's in love with crowley. even before he truly fell for him, he knew it was only inevitable, no matter how much he tried to stay away. and after that night in 1941, he knew it with his whole heart. but he knows he'll never confess, because that would undoubtedly change their relationship, and he's satisfied with the way things are. sneaking stolen glances, dropping hints he knows crowley will never pick up on, and slightly putting himself in denial of his feelings at times, he's fine with that. it's the norm for him, and it has been for years. crowley, however, has been in love with aziraphale since eden, since he was sheltered from the rain under the angel's wing, but he doesn't know that. he doesn't know what the feeling he has is, other than the fact that he knows he needs to be near aziraphale. he's just as in love but doesn't really know what love is, other than the feeling of looking at his newly-created nebulae. so in his mind, he simply needs to be with aziraphale in the same way he needs to look at the stars. he has no idea what he is feeling is love, and even less of an idea that it's romantic, until, of course, That Scene.
