NAME. komaeda nagito.
AGE. 23, in most verses.
SPECIES. human.
GENDER. put simply, masculine agender. it’s possible that they may identify themself as musei, but english sources on this term are difficult to find, so i’m not yet comfortable canonizing this. i might do a whole headcanon post on their gender and sexuality at some point.
ORIENTATION. gay.
INTERESTS. reading, puzzles, gardening, wandering, boys.
PROFESSION. in most verses, helping the future foundation wherever possible. (mostly paperwork.)
BODY TYPE. very thin and frail with long legs, arms, fingers, etc. they could potentially be described as gangly, if you wanted to be rude. lanky. in main verse, they are starting to regain a little weight, but they’re still quite sickly. very rectangular, no curves or muscle mass to speak of.
EYES. grey-green with downy white lashes, often with slight dark shadows under them.
HAIR. naturally very pale pink or strawberry blonde. currently mostly white due to past stress and illness, though their pink is coming in at their roots again in main verse. i have a whole post about the rest of their hair here.
SKIN. very pale, but not as translucent and sticky as it used to be in main verse. no notable blemishes, though they are almost always a little flushed in the cheeks and are horribly susceptible to sunburns. no freckles or beauty marks. quite a few scars.
HEIGHT. 6′4″ in most verses, 5′11″ in hope’s peak verses.
WEIGHT. 130 lbs.
COLOURS. pink + white + green + red
SMOKES ? very occasionally.
DRUGS ? not really.
DRIVER’S LICENSE ? no.

beep beep how’s my portrayal ?

you don’t mean to flinch backwards when they poke you, it just happens reflexively and you can’t fully explain it, and that bothers you just a little. there’s so much you want to say as you sit down next to them- you like specifics. you would be uncomfortable if you were to answer a question like that in any vague terms when you are capable of better. it’s… a habit, you suppose. certainty is good, it makes you feel in control.
you are thankful that nagito corrects themself before you can pipe up, it’s a sign of improvement.
“no.” yes. “komaeda-san, i am not confused.” it’s more complicated than they will ever understand. “please consider eating your toast before it cools.”
it doesn’t surprise you when they flinch, because they almost always flinch when you touch them out of the blue. they don’t stare at you coldly the way they used to. you take a bite out of your toast, mostly just to placate them. it’s already started to cool a bit, but you don’t say so. you don’t mind it.
“semantics,” you hum. “maybe ‘confusion’ is the wrong word to describe it... uncertain might be a little more apt.” another bite of your toast. you talk through it politely — too impatient to wait to swallow lest kamukura changes the subject, but not so uncouth as to show them your mouthful of chewed-up bread. “and you can’t honestly expect me to believe you weren’t uncertain. you wouldn’t have asked if you could assume with absolute certainty what i wanted.”
you swallow and smile at them. your eyes narrow like a cat looking affectionately at a rodent it could kill, like you’re looking for an opening, not to exploit it but to relish in the feeling of knowing it’s there. you feel that way often around kamukura.

“I don’t think you’re overthinking it.. It’s not something a lot of people think about, sure, but it’s interesting to consider regardless.”
She can’t help but wonder what got them thinking about the methods people use to brew tea in the first place..
“mm... well, if you don’t think so, then i’m glad! i saw someone making a tutorial online about how to make sweet tea, and they used their microwave to heat up the mug of water... i had never thought to do it that way before!”
they aren’t keen to admit that they asked nanami because they thought she might have much experience in the kitchen, but if even she doesn’t use the microwave, then it can’t be that common...
nagito’s hair looks... like that because their hair is naturally very curly, but they don’t know how to properly take care of it. they usually shower more than once a day, and they used to use shampoo every time. they also used to brush their hair frequently. it would get tangled because it’s not meant to be brushed, and they would then try to brush the tangles out. it was a vicious cycle of damaging their hair.
these days, they tend to take much better care of their hair. funny enough, it was actually hanamura of all people who approached them about it. he may not be someone nagito is very fond of, but he has curly hair and he knows how to take good care of it. nagito sticks to combing their hair, and doesn’t shampoo it quite so often anymore.

“Oh. Well, usually I do use a kettle, but I guess you could microwave it!”
That wasn’t a weird question at all.
“but wouldn’t it be harder to get water to boil in a microwave? and i worry that the temperature would be distributed unevenly if it was already in a mug... ah, but maybe i’m just overthinking it.”
it seems that nagito’s idea of a “weird question” is about as strange as the rest of them.
“komaeda-san, do you know... what flower this is?” a vague idea circles their thoughts. the structure is familiar— hazy image of wide, red petals is ever-present, eyes narrowing in deep concentration. /she’s/ seen it with one of them, if their feeling of familiarity isn’t wrong... but no name comes to mind. “it’s... really pretty... they’re definitely from here.”
komaeda is no botanist, but they’re very well-read. they know a thing or two about flowers from the books they’ve read. wide red petals... they certainly are beautiful.
“well... i’m not an expert by any means, and i’m not practiced in plant identification... but could it an akaibara? ahaha... my apologies. i only know a little about flowers.”
