There is a reason they sleep together for the first time in Singapore in BBN, because how could they possibly not after that moment? Lando waiting outside Osc’s hotel room for an hour - that is how much longing and yearning I see in this look he shoots him, haha.

How it's going:

Oscar: why are you up there?

Lando: well, this is my garage too, Oscar. I can stand wherever I want.

Oscar: where's the spider?

i see oscar in all his mclaren kit, walking into the paddock with some version of "hello OP!" written by the mclaren social admin in the corner of the screen, and my brain immediately goes to zc. i just imagine his life after treatment, the story/theories, and the continuation of said story/theories, in the twitter thread from the end of zc. maybe they post him on the insta from time to time once/if things become more public, jokingly referring to him as OP in reference to his life of mcsr. we see him awkwardly walking into the paddock, rocking mclaren team kit (perhaps now his size), awkwardly and a little nervously looking around and greeting people, but being kind and patient nonetheless. i hope he's adored by fans and that they continue to see how happy he makes lando and how much more comfortable lando seems now.

i hope i can learn more in the zc sequel, oscar means so so much to me (both the zc character and the real man) so i am very hopeful and excited to see more of him! :)

i apologize for ranting in your inbox, especially following my many other asks, but i simply can never get zc out of my brain. thank you for blessing us, now any time oscar is referred to as OP a little switch flips on in my brain.

Oh, sooo real! I think that, at some point after the 2026 season and the thread, people will start to realise that performance coach #2 is probably none other than OP81. And then, of course, that is going to be a lot for them to deal with for a while, haha. <3

Thank you sooo much! I am so happy that ZC!Osc means so much to you - he means so much to me too! I am currently deep inside his brain because, when I was writing ZC, I was already imagining what he was doing, what he was talking about with Hattie, and all of that. So actually writing it now feels strange. It feels a little like I am writing fanfic of my own fanfic, haha.

i had spoken about a lyric that goes "i'm a stranger to your body, but i already love you." which yes, is so zc!lando, but another lyric in that song reminds me of a specific scene from zc and i just had to share it with you.

the lyric goes...

"oh, i'm not a god, oh im not a genius, but i'll figure out how to drink the ocean between us."

every single time i hear that lyric i think of the scene with lando on the beach, after the whole incident with not-carlos, where he calls oscar. he looks out at the ocean and thinks about how oscar is somewhere on the other side of it, somehow so close yet so impossibly far.

i think this lyric resonates quite deeply with that moment, as lando had not yet realized he was in love with oscar yet, but he longed for him to an impossible level. he longed to be with him, in his space, to know oscar as a real person, not just an online personality.

anyway, had to share! i see zc references everywhere thanks to you :)

OH!! OH, this makes me so happy because AHHH, the ocean is such an important theme in ZC, and I haven’t heard many people talk about it yet.

Since I had always planned for them to meet at the beach, I scattered a lot of thematic ties to that scene throughout the fic. The ocean really represents the fact that they are so far away from each other, while at the same time, technically, there is still only an ocean between them.

My favourite tie-in was this one from Chapter 2:

“I think I can hear the ocean,” Oscar says after a moment. “Through your audio. It’s a little suppressed, but it sounds loud where you are.” “Yeah,” Lando replies, a soft smile tugging at his mouth as he stares out at the dark water stretching endlessly before him. “I could probably swim to you.” Oscar snorts quietly. “You’d absolutely need a dolphin for the speed boost. Otherwise you’d reach Australia in like a year.” “But that’d be nice, wouldn’t it?” Lando says, taking another sip from his drink, the alcohol warm and heavy on his tongue now. “Just swimming until I end up on your beach somewhere.” “You’d never hit the right one,” Oscar replies after a moment, voice low and threaded through with amusement. “And you still don’t know what I look like.” Lando goes quiet for a second at that, dragging his fingers absently through the sand beside him. “I feel like if I saw you,” he says eventually, “I’d know it was you.”

I feel like, in this scene especially, we really see the ocean as a barrier between them. Lando could swim to him - if, of course, he could swim that far - and I feel like there is truly this sentiment from the song that they just wish they could drink the ocean between them, because then they would be standing right in front of one another.

Oscars frustration at and jealously towards Carlos has been building for sooooo long now because of how close landos always been with him. a la the recent fan stage comments about being teammates in the future again. so this gp happens and Oscar is fucking fuming. and obviously Lando thinks thats the hottest thing in the world even though he does feel bad for him. so maybe just to try and push him a bit lando defends Carlos' actions casually, saying its not a big deal, it was a racing incident, Oscar should get over it, etc...... and Oscar absolutely snaps and fucks him into the mattress about it ?
