Marc André Edmonds aka Ali, J. Walter Negro from Manhattan started writing in 1970. Ali and his younger brother Michael ‘lil Ali’ founded The Underground Crew (UND). They sed to write in the tunnel being built under Central Park and IRT lines.

In the 1970’s, Ali was burned very badly while at a layup and almost had to have his hands amputated. Futura 2000 got him to the hospital and his mother told the doctor not to amputate because he was an artist.

Ali founded the Soul Artists some years later which would produce some of the most legendary writers. Many of the SA would become RTW crew members.

Ali coined the phrase Zoo York! In 1979, Ali published ZOO YORK MAGAZINE. The 1st issue was in May of 1979.
