Crumbling, disintegrating, turning to dust

We built those columns so proud and strong

Unknowing we would have to be the ones

To tear them down and throw them out

We fell for the voices, the feelings, the vows

A grand parade thrown for our self demise

We sowed such careful seeds nurtured

Unaware the blooms were oleander

Sipping fine poison out of ruby goblets

We built a throne so high and tall

Even we couldn’t reach it and so despaired

Our fallen kingdom turned to lies

As we realized our immaculate crowns

Were only plastic tiaras

Woven thoughts, bleeding doubt,

you say you’ll save me but you’re no hero

The world is tilted and I’m the only one straight

You’re blurring now, glitching, twisting

morphing into that shape of black

You’re losing focus, clouding up

blotting out the sheen of sun.

You mean to mend, you mean to sow

but you bend and break all you hold dear

Don’t touch me with your toxic poison

don’t try to fix it, don’t come near

You’ve done enough, there’s nothing left

You broke what you vowed, swore to protect

You’re a liar, a coward, a miserable thief

And the worst part is you’re a part of me

You can’t smell it

You can’t hear it

And you can only see it

If you’ve never tasted it

She watched

As her breath

Left a stronger

Mark on the window

Than her words had

On his heart

She loved so hard

Thinking pressure

Could turn coal

To diamond

But she was glass

And she shattered

She gave and gave

Like the leaking sky

And he took and took

Until she was empty

And he couldn’t survive

The drought

She wore a dress of moonlight

And smiled stars despite

The fact that he had more thorns

Than roses
