But Here's the thing, we aren’t talking about this righteous century. We are talking about medieval times. And this was still relatively early in their friendship, and at that point, Arthur still acted according to he was expected to act (mind you: medieval times) towards his servent in front of public.

But obviously we all know, he gave up that pretense aka princely behaviour towards his servents prettttty soon to the point where Merlin could joke about killing Arthur and the knights will laugh with him.

And some of you would also want to kill me l guess, but tbh, in so, so many ways, Arthur was actually benevolent to Merlin based on his perspective and time period.

He was a better master than Most. And Gaius even said that one time, it was something like this,... Merlin, You have to understand, not everyone is as kind to their servants as Arthur is to you.

But you know, Merlin laughed at it, and obviously we laughed at it too, because we, as audience, have Merlin's perspective, we have this special access to see everything Merlin goes through to save Arthur, and naturally we want Merlin to be respected all the time, and we don't approve anything less than that coming from Arthur. But if you were given Arthur's perspective from his time period, you would know Gaius's words were true.

Prattish all he might be, he actually hold & rouse Merlin so high respect wise, that everyone didn’t even think twice when enchanted Merlin tried to kill Arthur. Time and time again, Arthur went against every possible rule of their time to save Merlin (and Mordred too). Arthur drinked poison for Merlin.

Arthur kept count just how many days Merlin haven’t smiled...

Took Merlin's advise on court rulings, trusted Merlin so much didn’t think twice before drinking the death potion thus Literally putting his life on Merlin's hands, his servents friend's hands, hands he trusted more than life itself.

Even though from Arthur's perspective Merlin's hands were quite clumsy because, unlike the audience, he didn’t know Merlin had power, all he knew was Merlin's an idiot, but at the end of the day, Merlin was his idiot and regardless of everything he trusted him all the same.

Since joining this fandom, l have seen so much hatred towards Arthur. And little by little, I'm learning to accept no matter what he did some of you will find a reason to hate him anyway. Not all, but some. Like Morgana & Mordred. Some of yall joking about turning a Mordred, but may l add Mordred was alive to kill arthur because Arthur actively chose not to kill him. He even gave Kara second chance despite committing treason that she, herself refused. If Mordred isn’t the epitome of traitor... And What was Morgana's reason to kill Arthur? For simply being Uther's son? Then what about her being his daughter? She didn’t even tried to show Arthur magic can be good too, all she ever did was proving otherwise. At the end of the day, it was all for the throne, not about rightful place of Magic.
