He knows this isn’t like—the ‘right’ thing to be doing. Technically. Ethically. It’s not honourable, sure.

But sometimes the wrong thing is the right thing. If it means keeping someone.. safe.

And Arthur gave him the spare key, for emergencies. So it’s not like he’s really breaking in.

The camera beeps, once: confirming the setup is complete. He checks the app on his phone to make sure, and—yep, perfect. There he is on the screen, standing on a chair in the corner of the bedroom.

Merlin gets down, satisfied; puts the chair back; and lets himself out of Arthur’s flat.
