“You can tell me, Boyd. Maybe if ya do I can help you feel better about whatever’s botherin’ you.”

It’s true. Launchpad is a trusted adult, as well as a friend of his father Dr. Gearloose. If there’s anyone here he can talk to in the wilderness, it must be him.

Launchpad did in fact notice when Boyd took hold of his hand. He looked down and smiled. Ah! It was Boyd, one of his newest Woodchuck troop members!

“Hey, kiddo! Did ya need somethin’?”

Boyd let out a soft gasp, feeling Launchpad’s eyes on him. Slowly he looked up, and started to retract his hand. “Ah-- sorry, Mr. McQuack. I was just...”

“I was just feeling a little nervous, that’s all.”

Anyone else might hold a grudge. Anyone else might turn away and say ‘no, I don’t forgive you’ and seek that safe haven elsewhere. Boyd was not anyone else. Despite the time that had passed, and the hardships he’d faced, which could make anyone else cynical and cold, he was still that kindhearted real boy.

At his core, Boyd was still a child. Perhaps it was naive, but this child held all the forgiveness in the world. “I forgive you, Dr. Gearloose.” The words come so easily. What follows, though, comes with some trepidation.

The boy was in a panic, sparks running up and down his body as he squeezed his eyes shut-- he didn’t want to start shooting lasers from his eyes. Not right now. Trembling hands reached out and he clung onto Falcon’s suit, burying his face against him.

You’re safe. No one is going to come after you. He wanted to believe that so badly, but the looming figure flickering in his memories made that hard to swallow. Someone was out there who wanted to hurt him or use him, he just knew it.

While I’m working on icons, I guess like this for a short starter! 

And as a side note, I am going to give this blog a bit of a soft reboot... as in my original headcanon for Boyd’s origin is considered defunct, and any interactions based around that are no longer canon to the blog. All previous threads have been dropped, but that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to have Boyd interact with those muses!

I will keep the previous threads on the blog for archival purposes, and perhaps Mark-neural net Boyd will still be canon in an AU verse...

Two new verses for Boyd! Kim.to and There All Along.

Kim.to is a variant of the Expendable.bin verse, where being abandoned hurt Boyd a lot more, to the breaking point. Kim.to destroyed his remote, making certain that nobody else could ever control him, and is a lot more hostile. His eyes are always red, lasers always primed, and he makes no effort to hide the damage he sustains out on the streets. Mark Beaks and Doofus Drake are shoot-on-sight, while Louie is on thin ice.

There All Along is exactly what it says on the tin-- an AU where Boyd was a part of the show as early as ‘Daytrip of Doom’. He meets the triplets at Funzo’s, disappears shortly after the Beagle Boys make their attack, and they meet him again (at least, Dewey and Huey do) in ‘Infernal Internship’. He claims to be staying with his “Uncle Mark” (Mark has a better explanation for how suddenly Boyd came into his life this time) and tends to run errands around Waddle.

He doesn’t find out he’s a robot until the point he does in canon, though he does discover his ‘superpowers’ during the Shadow War. He chooses to keep them a secret from everyone but Gizmoduck, who he idolizes despite the Waddleduck incident.
