hm… a fan of the early seasons, i see—i also miss the early seasons
2block’s space-themed casino was a beautiful setting and i wish we had gotten more episodes set there—super unfortunate and messed up that Mary was used as a mouthpiece by the show runners to clarify to the child audience that shouldn’t even be watching this show hello where the hell are your parents this show has gore, violence, drugs, hand-holding, murder, alcohol, torture, and themes of existentialism and self destruction why are the tiny edgelords here that gambling was bad and then used to destroy and erase from existence the space casino :(
with absolutely no hope for it to come back (by making the rest of the cast act out of character [this was when the writing quality was actually decent] by having no one try to oppose mary’s anti-gambling will). really messed up 2block’s plot threads and left it stranded </3
I see it in the background often for the rest of the series but it’s just not the same, feels like the writers didn’t know what to do with it after they wrote out its main passions and character core of persuading the cast to sacrifice everything to gain huge reward (i suspect the prevalent hanging gold star decorations and lava lamp pipes of the casino were set up for imply a connection between 2block and the unseen but real Big Gods like Starboard and Trout God) so seeing it be relegated to the background is sad… at least this is why fanfiction and fan-canon exists!
