To my surprise, the room was filled with a few guys—Baek-jin’s closest friends. In the corner of the room stood two guys I hadn’t noticed before. At the glass table, on a black leather sofa, sat two tall guys who were closest to the boss. I knew they were the strongest after the leader. At the end of the sofa, sitting with his legs spread apart as usual, was Geum Seongje. He was leaning back completely, legs spread, staring at the ceiling as he exhaled a large cloud of smoke from the cigarette he was smoking. He was wearing an red blazer — school uniform with black, basic jeans. He lowered his head and looked at me as if he didn’t care about anything at all. I hate this dude so fucking much. I turned my gaze to the right—in the middle of the room stood a large desk, at which Baek-jin sat alone. However, he wasn’t working on his math assignments like he always did, which surprised me a lot and scared me a little. Instead, he was sitting with his hands on the desk, and his gaze—like everyone else’s gathered here—was fixed on me.
I stood in front of him in the middle of the room and slipped my hands into my jacket pockets.
“What’s going on?” — I asked, curious.
After a few seconds of silence, he sighed and began:
“Do-yun stole several thousand in cash belonging to the Union, and he’s gone missing.”
"Okay, I know that. So what now?" — I asked. I knew this had happened a few days ago, but I still didn’t know why he’d called me here.
"We can’t just let this slide."
I kept looking at him questioningly.
“We have to intimidate his girlfriend so he’ll come to us himself. Or rather, you have to do it,” — he said, looking down.
“What?” — I was shocked.
“I know it’s absurd, but we have no choice.” — he looks up at me.
I burst out laughing. After a few seconds of silence, I began — “An innocent girl who’s done absolutely nothing wrong? You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“Just because you can’t find the guy who stole your money and ran off doesn’t mean I have to attack a defenseless woman,” — I continued.
“Calm down. I’m not telling you to hurt her,” — Baek-jin replied dryly.
Silence fell over the room. I turned my head slightly and noticed that the boys gathered there were already bored and uninterested in the conversation. They were just waiting for me to politely say yes, of course, so they could leave the room.
„No.”
Everyone’s attention immediately focused on me.
“I won’t do it,” — I declared, my hands in my pockets, looking into Baek-jin eyes sitting behind the desk.
„What don’t you understand, you stupid hoe..” — one of the guys standing against the wall moved toward me, aggressively grabbing my shoulder. Without hesitation, I punched him in the arm with all my strength and kick him right between his legs.
“Fuck!” — he hissed and fell to his knees, clutching his crotch.
“You bitch…” — his friend started walking quickly toward me
„Enough.” — Baek-jin said.
All eyes turned to him.
The room grew quieter, except for the guy gasping in pain as he knelt on the floor.
He looked at him and, averting his gaze to the side, simply said:
“Take him out.”
His two friends stood on his right and left, trying to grab him somehow. They both muttered something under their breath, urging him on. Meanwhile, I glanced at the black couch to my left, where Seongje was still sitting in the same aloof posture, finishing his cigarette. Even though I was standing and looking down at him, he shamelessly returned my gaze. He smiled slyly, showing his teeth. I narrowed my eyes, expressing my irritation at his presence. The three of them left the room, closing the door behind them, and my gaze met Baek-jin’s again. He was looking at me with a subtle irritation. He knew that despite my resistance, I would still be forced to carry out this task. After all, no one was forcing me to be in the Union.
“She finishes her shift at the bar in two hours, I'll send you the address. Make sure no one sees you,” — he said, not intending to add anything else.
I snorted derisively. I turned around and grabbed the doorknob to leave.
„Damn it...” — after leaving the room, I heard Seongje’s laughing voice behind me.
