It took me a few days to write this post because I had lost another friend earlier in the week š Iām gonna miss your smile & laughs bro. Joe, you were one of a kind. One of my closest friends. You had a big heart, and an even bigger appetite, especially for guava & cheese pastries hahaha š¤£ š I love you bro. You already know your family will be taken care of. We will always share the memories of you to your boys šš½ Your death still doesnāt make sense. Losing you this past week has been really really hard for me and many who were close to you. I canāt even imagine the lin the family is going through š but we all know youāre walking on streets of gold, still trying to make 3 point shots that youāre even missing in heaven š Man this sucks. I canāt make sense of the situation. I donāt think many can. But what I do have peace is your strong rooted faith and how you touched so many lives. ā”ļø Long Post, Swipe Right ā”ļø What a journey it has been these last 5 months, and specifically 5 years and 3 months as an entrepreneur... š Living on couches and hitting rock bottom in life at the age of 29 š Doing Uber & Lyft in the early days of entrepreneurship just to get by š¤Ŗ Flipping free item I would pick up on Craigslist and flipping them on apps like OfferUp and 5 Mile š man what a hustle that was, sheeeesh... THEN importing and exporting products on Alibaba and AliExpress. CHINA šØš³ š I mean I feel like I was doing anything and everything to make one of my main dreams of being fully financially independent into reality. And then I came across a mentor and community of entrepreneurs that would make my dream into a reality in a matter of months. More on that in a few... Going after a dream of being my own boss, helping businesses grow, dictating life and finances based on my terms. I knew I could do it if I had the right guidance and support šŖš¾ April 2016, everything changed when I met an amazing hustler & entrepreneur who showed me the dream was possible. #LONGPOST Hereās Little Joey. Heās 5. He can multiply & has learned to speak some Russian from YouTube (straight gangster and a little scary) This is us having fun weeks back. I love little Joey. And he loves me. Iāll come back to why little Joey is even a part of this post at the end... Thereās a lot of things wrong with our country at the moment. Injustice. Racism. Hate. A lot of evil going on. I donāt have all the answers. I donāt have all the solutions. Iām still processing all of this. There are fast solutions people are trying to put in place due to the recent killings of #GeorgeFloyd and so many other people. What happened to him was wrong. Justice must be served. Systems must be changed. Sometimes there arenāt enough words to say. Sometimes silence & reflection helps the healing process to the soul. Back to why I posted about little Joey. Children are awesome. Theyāre fun, loving, goofy, trusting, etc. Even though this isnāt the ācure for allā that so many want to happen... Little Joey was not thinking ā...this big brown man is playing with meā Little Joey was thinking ā...Damianās my friend, he loves me, heās playing with meā One thing we can all begin doing is: TEACH THE NEXT GENERATION TO LOVE People are not born racists. Theyāre taught it. Iām the midst of these dark times, I see days like this with Little Joey or playing with other kids as a sign of hope. A sign that says we can do better. A sign that says we are better as humans. A sign that says there can be brighter days. And realistically, even a better today. But it starts with us adults making sure we donāt PERPETUATE the disease of racism. Start loving people, regardless of color. Martin Luther King Jr. said: āI have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their characterā May our character & actions display love and not hate. Iām still processing and learning. These are unparalleled times. And change must happen 100%.
