hi nejla!!! it’s good to see you back i missed you as well :D of course you can get some halloween headcanons, just in time for the spooky season 🎃

✩ darry tends to forget that halloween is even getting close; he usually has to work on the day of and he hasn’t celebrated the holiday in years anyways. 

✩ back in high school, though, he probably would have hit up a few parties, maybe drove around with his football buddies. there might have been a fundraiser at school for the football team, a haunted house or a carnival, and he would have definitely participated in that.

✩ nowadays he’ll accept a couple pieces of candy if someone offers it at work but otherwise, he might just go as far as letting ponyboy and sodapop decorate the front of the house, and that’s as much festivity as he cares to have.

✩ ^sodapop takes this task very seriously, and it isn’t a surprise to anyone when a few neighborhoods down the road start losing pieces of halloween decor off their front porches. ah, well. that skeleton looks better on the curtises’ front steps than it did in the neighbor’s front yard.

✩ on actual halloween night, soda and steve like to take sandy and evie out for the night, maybe to a scary movie and dinner somewhere where the carhops are wearing cat ears and the food is greasy but cheap.

✩ all three of the curtis boys used to carve pumpkins with their dad in the fall, so ponyboy snags a few from a school event or one of the shops in town. he might be able to convince darry to help if he catches him on a night he’s not exhausted. sodapop, however, is much more interested in seeing what’ll happen if he drops his off the roof. spoiler alert: it’ll break, obviously. 

✩ as a kid, pony liked to go trick or treating with his mom and collect donations for UNICEF. he figures he’s too old for it now, though, so he’s more than eager to help out at school with whatever club fundraisers are happening that night. if there’s nothing to do, he and curly shepard will walk around and secure a few pieces of candy from sympathetic houses (even though they’re not wearing costumes).

✩ johnny is NOT as easily spooked as he looks as long as no one sneaks up behind him, thank you very much. he’ll tag along with curly and pony if they invite him, or he’ll just hang with dallas for the night. he and dal might jumpscare some trick or treaters if there aren’t too many adults around, and sometimes they end up with whole buckets of candy because of it. johnny feels a little bad but dallas thinks it’s the funniest thing ever. 

✩ dallas might also hang around buck’s place, because buck loves any excuse for a party. two-bit’s probably there and maybe steve too, everyone getting much too drunk and eating way too much food. the music is loud and there’s a few folks with stupid-looking costumes (two-bit dressed up as a cowboy but no one can actually see a difference from his regular clothes). 

✩ and naturally, two-bit’s big on the pranking, particularly with his buddies. except, it lasts ALL month, not just on halloween. so far, darry’s found fake spiders in his truck (they ended up on the pavement), cobwebs on his work clothes (two-bit got the third degree for that one), fake blood in his shampoo bottles (obvious because of the mess he made), and real spiders in his closet (which weren’t actually two-bit’s doing, but he got blamed for it anyways). steve’s out for blood when two-bit eggs his car in broad daylight.
