Because truthfully I don't think Abaddon has ever given much thought to the boy he possessed, or to his father who he shoved off a cliff to his death. Except it's kinda hard not to think about them now 300 years later when he's standing on the other side of a very similar situation.

So...I have an insane theory that Abaddon was not actually sent to earth to cause chaos just for the sake of chaos, but instead to be an eventual catalyst for the apocalypse. Potentially one of six.

In episode one, when Jezmeralda is introduced, the first words out of her mouth are "This hotel has a darkness! A weak darkness. Unreliable." And we assume she's taking a shot at Nathan because she looks at him while she says it (this is relevant, stick with me here). Except these are two traits later ascribed to Abaddon— and it does make more sense for it to be Abaddon she senses, because Nathan is not an evil ghost. Nor is he unreliable. But if Nathan has spent a lot of time around Abaddon, some of his demonic energy could have stuck to him, hence potentially why Jezmeralda seems to look at him as the source of it.

This is an important thing to note, because as the episode continues, Jezmeralda later mentions that a legend claims that one of the six gates to hell resides on the hotel grounds. We assume the mirror she uses to summon the demon is that specific gate because it's so obvious, but I have to wonder...is this another mislead, just as her seemingly calling Nathan dark and unreliable was a mislead? Because she wasn't necessarily wrong or lying in the first case...she just got the source of it wrong. Who's to say she didn't get the gate wrong too?

In The Acolytes of Abaddon the cult leader mentions that their order had spent decades searching for Abaddon, and that spirit channeling had confirmed to them that he was bound to a mortal form. Confirmed, meaning they already suspected.

So where did they originally obtain their information? Maybe their cult is made up of certain descendants of the colony Abaddon terrorized when he first came to earth, and maybe they consulted the ghosts of the same colony. But I do wonder if demons were involved in this too, and for purpose.

If Abaddon was indeed sent to earth to bring about the apocalypse (albeit without his knowledge) then I can't help but feel like there might be consequences to him actively preventing it. And what of the other five gates? Are they also on earth, bound to mortal forms?
