Nicolas Winding Refn's Only God Forgives is a true visual and sounding masterpiece. The story may not be amazing or even that original. But the visual production allied to an overwhelming mixture of techno and orchestral sounds - and some oriental music - gives this film the right impact within its audience. Cliff Martinez's sound composition is of whole other level.

And the "Wanna Fight" scene might just be one of the best fighting scenes in the history of cinema.

«People have been looking for you». That is the title for this song by Supernada, one of the many bands/projects by Manuel Cruz, the famous singer/songwriter for Ornatos Violeta.

I bumped into this song today, right after having a deep conversation with a friend about staying or leaving and how to make such a decision given those around us. That has a lot do to with the lyrics and I felt like I always do when such a coincidence happens.

From time to time, some blessed artist has an idea to make a cover of an old song. And it turns out much better than the original.

Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons) took "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac and made a sweet, warm version of it.

Much better than the original. Right?

I am at work, it's 4 p.m. and the radio is on. I have caught Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" four times today in two different radio stations. Four!

In a time when I can no longer take another "I'm up all night to the sun...", a new cover (by Daughter) of the now most annoying song of the Summer comes up.

It's good. But that's enough.

I have told you before how much I like Panic! At The Disco and they always blow my mind!

So, the second single for their upcoming album did just that. "This is Gospel" sounds like a typical PATD song but it has something that shows me the band has grown. And the video portrays that change in an amazing, powerful way.

The other day one of my favorite radio stations recovered this song from oblivion. "The Message", by hip hop legend Grandmaster Flash, has been playing back and forth in my head since.

And the words keep going. "It's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder/ How I keep from going under".

So this guy is supposed to be the new Justin Vernon. And "Berlin" is supposed to be the new "Skinny Love".

I don't know about that and I don't like to compare artists, but I'm willing to give it a try. Ry Cuming and his project, RY X, is catching my eye.

I have been chosing some songs for you mainly because of the videos and this is another one.

I have been curious about Portugal. The Man for quite some time now. Who are these guys who named their (American) band after a country, my country?

R. sent me this song and I liked it a lot. But the video is what really surprised me.

The other day, R. reminded me of one of my favorite bands growing up, Da Weasel.

I felt like listening to "Casa (Vem Fazer de Conta)", which is on my top 10 songs by the Portuguese hip hop group. Da Weasel invited the legendary Ornatos Violeta's lead singer, Manuel Cruz, to be part of this sort of ballad. The video is as good as the lyrics.

I read somewhere along my YouTube random-clicks afternoons a comment on a Nas video asserting:

"If 2Pac was Jesus, Nas wrote the Bible."

Nas is a game-god, a conscious rapper with an amazing flow and lyrics. "Daughters" is a single from his last album, Life is Good, but I'm actually waiting for the arrival of Stillmatic by recommendation of a friend of mine.

Anyway, if you are a papa and you have a daughter...brace yourself and listen to the message.

Last week, someone played this in the newsroom I've been interning and it quickly reminded me of the long afternoons with my best friends playing some games and having fun.

Good old times to "Dy-Na-Mi-Tee" from her A Little Deeper album.

I've been in need of a party. A dancehall party, definitely.

This music reminds me of the best night-out I've ever had, back in 2007. I went with a friend to this disco where a dancehall soundsystem crew that I know were going to play. It was incredible to the extent of turning off from the surrounding environment and just jump and singing songs - such as "Duty Wine" by Tony Matterhorn - that we both recognised from an album I had at home.

Good times and definitely a song to heat up your summer. Jump up!

I'm not ALL about rap. I mean, it's been part of my life since a young age and as I grow up I tend to understand the arguments and points-of-view in a whole deeper way. I'm positively sure that rap music is my lucky charm, what keeps me going.

However, I do enjoy new musical experiences. Ratatat are one of those experimental sounds that I love to hear now and then.

I first knew them a couple of years ago, but one of these days I reviewed my videos on Vimeo and found "Loud Pipes" - from their 2006 album Classics - in this amazing video of London.
